YouTube Smackdown Thread #17 - PLEASE HELP! (Update in #235)

Well hey - it's August.  We had a lot going on with the Smackdown Crew behind the scenes - vacations and absences and whatnot - but our numbers person has come thru with all the stats...and we're all questioning what they mean.  Two trains of thought here....    On the "glass is half-empty" side, it seems that YouTube's response has been less than stellar, to put it mildly.  We know that there are 10 users who have had more than their 3 strikes and yet they are still in the game.  But if you're a Pollyanna like me and always want to see that half-full glass, we have a theory for you as well.  The "ummah" on YouTube have been significantly less active.  Our old friend JihadJane (aka about a hundred different aliases!) has all but disappeared.  We may be succeeding in turning YouTube into a non-terrorist-friendly venue, which is a good thing.   Hunting down videos for flagging has become progressively difficult -- we are finding that there aren't as many around.  We ARE making a difference people!  To date we have taken down nearly 39,000 videos and nearly 900 users!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!  So without further ado, here are the numbers...

SIT/Juba/snipers (23)

twitter (39) and resulted in 3 suspensions included below

Ping (96) additional videos downed

JSOTD - (18) vids SMACKED DOWN for a  SMACKDOWN percentage since May of 2008 of 84.72%

Individual videos  23+39+96+18+473 = a total of 649 hirabist videos removed from YouTube in July!

July 2009 Results:

If you're new at this, we'd love to have you working with us.  Here are the steps for flagging videos:

#1) If you don’t have a YouTube account, go sign up for one. You don’t have to use it for anything but this.

#2) Click one of the links below, let the video start and then click the pause button on the player so you don’t have to actually watch the propaganda if you choose not to..

#3) Below the video, click “Flag as inappropriate.”

#4) Choose “promotes hatred or violence”

#5) Where it says “please indicate the group attacked” choose National Origin.

#6) Where it says “provide additional information.....” type or copy/paste in the below statement.

Providing services to terrorists violates executive orders 12947 and 13224.
