“Pat Toomey says Sotomayor is qualified for the High Court too.”
Not one of his better choices. If I’m not mistaken, Toomey is soft on illegals and supports Free Trade. However, he’s going to be the nominee, so these complaints won’t do much good.
There were plenty of posters back in 2004 who screamed for revenge at Santorum for backing Specter. Are the same people going to give the same outrage to Toomey?
BTW, Club for Growth is a both pro-free trade and pro-guest worker program. Steve Moore has been critical of Tancredo’s fiery anti-immigrant rhetoric.
>> I have to give Republicans credit, as theyve put up a better fight than I thought they would. They didnt roll over like they did with Ruth Bader Ginsburg. <<
I disagree. Sure, they got a few more Republican "nay" votes than they did with Ginsburg (oddly enough even Clinton's other nominee, the less fringe but equally liberal Stephen Breyer, got more nay votes than Ginsburg as well), but no where near the type of opposition the RATs showed to people like Roberts and Alito. At least they were harder on Sotomayor during her confirmation hearings than they were on Hillary (the Hillary "vetting" was a love fest), but there was no "borking" in the least. If any Republican had made a mistake about a "wise white man" being able to render better decisions than hispanic woman, his judicial career would be OVER. The only "symbolic" vote I would have cared about is all 40 Republicans voting NAY. >>

Toomey does have a "more conservative" primary challenger in the form of Peg Luksik, but with her 0 wins, 3 losses track record of running for office I think she's a non-starter and would lose to the RAT in the fall election. Though if I knew Toomey was going to safely win the primary anyway, I might cast a token vote for her just to send a message. Toomey would be infinitely better than Specter, but he does need to hear from the base about not rubber stamping Obama nominees.
