ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson has been found guilty of 11 of the 16 charges against him in a federal bribery and conspiracy trial.

Jefferson was accused of accepting more than $400,000 in bribes and seeking millions more in exchange for brokering business deals in Africa.

Just heard Bret say on Special Report that about 250 years depending on how his sentencing is structured, is legally possible with all these federal counts.

Not that it would happen that way.

Even though minimum sentencing guidelines have been set aside (see US. v. Booker), it's going to be very tough for the judge to sentence him to less than 50 years, considering the advisory guidelines will suggest something north of a 100 years.

At 62, I don't see a political come-back in Mr. Jefferson's future, unless he makes like Lazarus, which is doubtfull - at best.

Have no fear, Bozo the WH clown will pardon this POS with a full pardon. Won't take long either and he will have some BS statement about how Jefferson "learned his lesson" and doesn't need to be locked up. I would bet money on this happening.

Those I think would be total numbers if served consecutively. But I suspect he'll be sentenced somewhere between minimum and maximum on each count and most likely will serve those sentences concurrently. In any case at his age he'll spend a lot of his remaining years if not most in the pen.
