Last week Chuck DeVore did his best to get the California Assembly to vote through the first major offshore drilling efforts in over two decades. After the Senate passed the measure the Assembly voted down the measure and later voted to expunge the record, as if it didn't exist. As Chuck noted: "George Orwell would be proud." Glenn Beck quotes Chuck in this 2 minute report.

Can the nation secede from California and the northeast? That would solve a lot of problems.
Freepers in these areas would be welcomed to relocate into the USA from the USSA.
I like Devore. I’ve donated to his campaign. How do you think his chances are in the primary and in the general?
I was present at the Silicon Valley Conservative Forum last night. Chuck Devore was the speaker and was extremely impressive. He articulated his positions very well on pretty much all of the issues of today with solid conservative ideas.
He has a great personality and stage presence as well as a great sense of humor. He is also pretty savvy with high tech methods of getting his message out.
He’s got my support.
Does this change give us any hope for better things to come? I can’t imagine the squeezed in Cali will be happy about this, especially since this is lost royalties and tax revenue when they need it most.
Stalinism, alive and well in Kaliforrnia.
you know, developing our own energy resouces would make us the richest nation in the world...
unbelievable
California has a history of not electing multi-millionaires as governor or U.S. senator with no political track record (other than actors). What Chuck will be able to do is get the foot-soldiers (volunteers) needed to win this campaign, conservatives looking for a solid candidate to back.
I was there last night as well, and your analysis is spot-on. Good to have you on the team.
Consider that Santa Barbara was the cause of the US being the only country in the world with coastal drilling bans. By drilling oil companies might take some of the pressure off the under water oil and gas deposits in the Santa Barbara Channel and lessen the seeps. They might also take the some of the pressure off Californias state budget. Might help the feds too.
Funny how this sort of thing doesnt get out of the science journals.
No, but we can refuse to fund their irresponsibility.
And how do we go about that. You and I can not refuse to fund anything. All we get to do is vote every couple of years.
obviously you hate polar bears and penguins.../s...
I could get into the specifics of tax avoidance and evasion but I won’t. I meant the ‘we’ collectively in the sense that I don’t think Congress will subsidize their nonsense forever.
I remember Governor Reagan referencing this point when he was campaigning during the 1980 primary in Massachusetts. Twenty eight years later and nothing has been done about it.
Just makes sure he doesn’t go to a strip club four days before the general election.
