Witness says up to 15 shots fired at L.A. Fitness Center
BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. - Four people were killed in a shooting at a suburban health club, including the shooter, Pittsburgh television stations reported.
A gunman walked into the gym, turned off the lights and began firing in an aerobics area, television station WPXI reported, citing witnesses.
Collier Township police Chief Thomas Devin said nine or more persons may have been shot with a handgun.
KDKA said the killings were at an L.A. Fitness Center not far from downtown Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh International Airport.

Plrease take this down as kcvl posted a minute earlier...thnx
Now let’s imagine that if law abiding citizens were allowed to carry guns... the deaths could have been avoided or minimized...
When I lived in NY I carried legally for 19 years...now in NJ I cannot. Hate it and will get out of this state as soon as I can
You can in PA, at least for now. This is not far from home, 40 miles or so.
NJ taxes you for leaving.
I’m for citizens basically being able to carry anywhere—including federal property—but I doubt any of those women would have been doing aerobics with a piece on. He probably killed them too quickly for anyone to have plugged him in time. But then again, at least they would have had the CHANCE to survive. Oh well, the lefties will use it to push for confiscation.
Come over to Delaware. We need more people like you.
Thanks for your kind words and invite; as a matter of fact, I rented for a week at Dewey last August and this August I will be in Bethany...love the beach in DE. It could be full-time eventually.

Senseless kneejerk post. You actually think ladies in leotards doing aerobics would be packing heat ?
Holsters aren’t practical accessories for swimware either.
If legal carry were more widespread, random shootings like this would be fewer. And, if one of those ladies had a piece in her bag against the wall, when the shooter shut the lights out, there's a chance she could have gotten to it (at least a better chance of getting to a firearm than if she did NOT have one).
And, as far as the beach goes, when I had my legal carry in NY, I would often bring my revolver (a semi-auto is a bit more delicate than a revolver) to the beach in a plastic bag within a beach bag next to the spf 16 and a book.
I wouldn’t be surprised if some from the left hired this sicko’s so they can further their agenda. Just a thought.
No kidding. At least all the evidence seems to be pointing to that.
This sounds like an ambush. Even well armed soldiers get killed in such attacks.

Here’s a link to my thread about his blog.. Lays out a lot of his ‘agenda’ there.
I read that he hated women and didn’t have sex for 20 years....I wonder why????
Too many "ifs" in that statement.
I understand and agree with your general point, but this incident would have turned out the same regardless. This fruitcake didn't care about his own life -- he wouldn't have been deterred by the slight possibility that somebody might be able to find their gun in their bag in the dark amid mass confusion.
Too many “ifs” better than one infinite “no gun available.” And it would not be fear that would stop this suicide killer, but rather a bullet.
A bullet did stop this guy -- his own. But it's not reasonable to assume that anybody else's would have done so, given the circumstances.
The truth is that guys like this will be "successful" more often than not, simply because they're prepared and their victims are not. Somebody who takes the time to plan their rampage will be able to pick the time and place best suited to that "success."
That's not to say that carrying is therefore useless -- but at best it would shorten the time available for the bad guy to shoot his victims ... and even that depends being able to actually knock the bad guy down.
When you look at carrying in the context of nut-job shooting like this one, it's sorta like CPR -- it's a good thing in theory, but a lot of the time it doesn't do any good when you actually have to use it.
My point is not to denigrate carrying a weapon for self-defense; rather, it's to suggest that we need to be realistic about its effectiveness in stopping things like this one.
I used to live in Oakdale which is right next door on the other side of I279; in fact my dog's vet was in Bridgeville. I'm not sure where the gym is, but Bridgeville is very near the Nevillewood golf community which, IIRC was where Bill Cowher and Mario Lemieux resided, or at least did at one time.
