You got that right - Newport is nerve gas; and Crane is a Navy & Army ammo and ordnance manufacturer and storage. 50 + or - miles within in each. Something happens to either facility, hiding under a desk or doorway would make as much sense as trying to outdrive it. I use to just shake my head during our bomb drills in grade school.

You can survive unless you are at the minimum safe distance or have a home with a deep basement. Also,if your basement has windows cover them with dirt.

The rockets that are failing are the new ones. The reason why they are failing is that the design or manufacture may have faults. They still have the rockets that are left overs from the Cold War and they are deadly.

It could also be that the Russians are purposely having the tests fail (having tested the real models secretly) so they can build tons of the missiles without us saying anything about it.

Also they have been upgrading their old missiles.

Medvedev issued a decree ordering the replacement of General Nikolai Solovtsov by General Andrei Shvaichenko as commander of the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces. He was fired of the string of failures in the last year both land based missiles and sea based missiles. They are upgrading their current stockpile of missiles.

Huh? Did you not see the intercept images of Russian strategic nuclear capable bombers off the coast of the US when Bush was in office? It makes absolutely no difference who is in power. This is international waters and international airspace.

The bird farms always wrecked perfectly good liberty ports. I’d get freebies until they showed up.

I haven’t read his books, but I’m not aware of any evidence that the missile fuel story is a dodge.

K-219 (Yankee class SSBN) was more due to drunken pipefitters in the shipyard.

Yeah, that pipefitting errors show up even on American boats (USS Thresher comes to mind) but it must have been an enormous problem in the Soviet fleet. The stories about workday drinking in "MiG Pilot" could curl your hair.

We were actually on the beach, admiring the atmospheres (.)(.)

And then the Ch Eng (Former enlisted BT type) he and I watched the island structure come up over the horizon, and I knew who was in the area...He flipped a gasket and said there goes the nieghborhood...

He yelled out in a semi-stuporous manner...

“THE AMERICAN NAVY IS COMING!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!”

He cleared about half the beach on that one...I’ve never forgotten that...Bout threw up laughing so hard...

We saved a couple of the girls from those dastardly airdales...

Oh to be young again...

I'll bet there are a good many Freepers using Toshiba laptops.

Uh, mine says "MacBook Pro".

Wonderful little laptop.
