GUY Ritchie's plan to put a gay spin on the relationship of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in his new movie about the detective and his sidekick could backfire.
Robert Downey Jr</strong>, who plays Holmes, has revealed the crimebuster will sleep with and have sweaty grappling scenes with Watson, played by Jude Law, in "Sherlock Holmes," due out Christmas Day.
"We're two men who happen to be roommates, wrestle a lot and share a bed. It's bad-ass," Downey told Britain's News of the World. Added much-in-the-news Law: "Guy wanted to make this about the relationship between Watson and Holmes. They're both mean and complicated."
But Michael Medved, a former Post movie critic, says Downey and Law must be joking. "There's not a seething, bubbling hunger to see straight stars impersonating homosexuals," Medved told us. "I think they're just trying to generate controversy . . . They know that making Holmes and Watson homosexual will take away two-thirds of their box office. Who is going to want to see Downey Jr. and Law make out? I don't think it would be appealing to women. Straight men don't want to see it."

Disgusting, and nothing new. Rupert Evert’s Sherlock Holmes on PBS was gay.
Now I know to avoid this movie like the plague. Thanks for the info. The thought of watching Downey and the other dude make out makes me want to puke.

WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who’s next? Santa Claus?
“It’s bad-ass,” .........dude, it is gay!
Well I was thinking of seeing it...but not anymore.
Guy Ritchie himself seems to have an attraction to "manly" persons
Saw the preview to this recently, looked like it might be good, but there was no hint of this crap.
Jeremy Brett is the only real Sherlock. R.I.P.
“Alimentary my dear Watson.”
“How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?” - Sherlock Holmes in The Sign of the Four
Oh, I'm sure someone has pitched that idea already. I'm sure they'd also LOVE to portray Jesus as gay too. These are some sick people here.
SICK. Funny...but SICK.
I don’t see any indication there’s actual kissing or intercourse in the movie. There’s nothing wrong with men sleeping in the same bed—it happened a lot in the old days—or men wrestling. It all depends on wat sort of inuendo they use. If it’s all sweaty fun, fine. If they stare deeply into eachothers’ eyes or or hug a lot, like in “Alexander,” that’s different.
I agree that this is revolting. Dr. Watson is clearly a straight man who falls in love with a woman at first sight in the second novel!
How will the movie deal with the fact that Watson was married?
