“And if you have someone in the White House perfectly willing to exercise that power by making implied threats, there isn’t much even giant corporations can do to deny Obama what he wants.”
Really? Mr. Moran provides no such proof. He quotes Kurtz quoting Paul Friedman saying, “The networks “absolutely” feel pressured, says Paul Friedman, CBS’s senior vice president: “It’s an enormous financial cost when the president replaces one of those prime-time hours. The news divisions also have mixed feelings about whether they are being used.”
Sorry, I don’t see an implied threat there. Pressured? OK, maybe. But what leverage did Rahm have to use? We won’t call on your journalistic shill at the next presser? These are the same network heads that handed BHO an election. I can’t see why they’d need threatening now. All Rahm needed to do was ask the boss. I assume they were glad to comply.
Agreed. If a Republican administration tried to strong arm the networks they would puff their chests out, refuse, and go straight to the public with evidence of corrupt use of power. They have a choice. They aren't honorable. That's the problem.
I’m glad he did....then Americans wouldn’t have seen how racist the punk is.
