SAN FRANCISCO -- General Motors Co. said Monday that July U.S. sales fell 19.4% to 189,443 vehicles from a year ago. U.S. July car sales fell 20.8% to 83,376 vehicles and truck sales declined 18.3% to 106,067 vehicles. Chevrolet fared the best with a 9.3% sales decline to 124,948 vehicles, and Saturn sales plunged the most, down 66.1% to 5,968 vehicles.
Like several others, I will never buy another GM (Only bought one new before, it was a POS) - Had 5 new Fords 4 of them went over 100,000, including one I still own and newest is 3 yr old F150. Every Ford has been a good car.
Even if GM builds a 45 MPG sports car and sells it for under $1000 I wouldn’t buy it! Don’t want an Obamamobile under any circumstances.
And this while Ford sales rose 2% YoY.
I’m not surprised. I’ve been a dedicated GMC truck man for 20 years. I owned a Sonoma back when they were still called S-15s. I will be looking at the Toyoda for my next truck purchase since I will NOT EVER buy a product from Government Motors.
I place most of the blame on GM management. Their names are also on those union contracts. They are the ones who conceived, designed and marketed pieces of junk like the Caprice year after year while others ate into their market share. They are the ones that failed to execute and innovate over decades of time.
And while they have a new CEO and Directors most of their managers from their operating divisions are still there. An epic fail.
That's not funny; I'm a grandparent.
