WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon is asking Congress for money to speed deployment of the 30,000-pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator bunker busting super bomb on the B-2 stealth bomber for potential use in heavily defended areas of the world, such as Iran and North Korea.
The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) asked Congress for permission to move $68 million in the 2010 DOD budget to the Massive Ordnance Penetrator bunker buster program to enable the first four super bombs can be carried by the B-2 stealth bomber by next year, according to published reports.

Who is the Pentagon kidding!? Why spend the money? The usurper would never use it anyway. The USA has officially become a paper tiger.
MOAB is a surface blast effect weapon with a wide diameter kill range, MOP is a subsurface bunker buster with a narrow diameter killrange.
Not at all the same thing. The MOAB cannot “do” MOP targets, all the Nuke plant targets in Iran are MOP targets.
The MOP cannot do area effect MOAB targets, they are taliban strong holds in Afganistan.
NOT being redundant at all, deep is not the same as wide.
It makes as much sense to set fire to a neighborhood in order to promote home construction. Our government is insane.

Just pointing out the obvious to those uninformed, less informed, or willfully ignorant, that MOP is not at all like anything else we have in the inventory.
I would never say you are uninformed, less informed, or willfully ignorant, after all, you surely know that MOP is redundant for a reason.
So, in the interest of honest objectivity, please tell everyone what weapon we have that will perform the mission of MOP, you know, tell us all what sort of targets it is designed for, and of course, what we have in the inventory that makes it redundant.
You being a weapons expert and all. . . .should be easy.
Darn. . .you caught him.
;-)
Indeed. Part of the RDT&E effort, following up on the contract with the Air Force for up to 20 of those weapons (around 4 for testing and integration, I believe).
Changing the color of money to advance testing and then move into procurement.
BTTT!
It would bounce off without doing any harm ... Even the truth can't penetrate his thick skull.
There is no need for another weapon to do the same thing the last one was never used for. If you want to destroy a target completely use a nuke. But I'm a little sick of pissing away tax payers money for no purpose.
Well, I guess you are the weapons expert here and know what the MOP is designed for, and the MOAB, and we see you are a nuclear weapons expert as well. You just don't want to talk facts, and I respect that, really, as feelings mean so very much when talking weapons and weapons effects.
Thanks for sharing your informed and obviously well thought-out feelings.
Have a nice day.
LOL....well said!
I don’t believe in BS spending. We have all the deterrence we will ever need. Do you not give a damn about how deep in debt this country is.
Your welcome...
Oh. . my post was directed at the “weapons expert” cynic, not you. I info’d you because your Post 22 was well stated.
Apology if there was any confusion as to my intent.
MOAB was originally designed to create landing zones out of impenetrable SE Asian jungles. The tunnel complexes in Afghanistan were mountainside caves where the MOAB exploded at the entrance, sucked the air out and suffocated those inside.
