Retired Supreme Court Justice David Souter urged the nation's lawyers Saturday to help revitalize civic education, warning that the failure of many Americans to understand how the government works poses a serious threat.

Just so long as it doesn’t involve him taking teen aged boys out overnight camping, he can spout whatever he wants.
Too bad Souter wasn’t educated on the concept of private property rights.
This is like David Duke preaching the need for healthy race relations.
LOL! I couldn’t have said it better in fewer words myself.
Start with un-doing the early childhood and public education “reform” that the Annenburg gang, Billy-the-Bomber, and Barry imposed in Chicago.
If that's the case, then any man's home in this country can be razed in favor of constructing a multistory condo, all residents under the tax laws, all paying property taxes higher than the single family home can.
In other words, no man is safe.
Tutto nello Stato, niente al di fuori dello Stato, nulla contro lo Stato
Souter (and the four robed tyrants who joined him...) raped the Constitution with this sophistry.
JG
If Souter only meant Education and not Indoctrination. It probably would have helped his decisions if studied Constitutional Law for more than that one class in college.
He can spout off all he wants; but he knows as well as we do the law is perverted and twisted to suit the power of the world. He, of all people; should know how that works given his known feelings on PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Why did he wait until retirement to get something right?
Perhaps the justice should go back and study the law and the CONSTITUTION.
People with lots of money use empty suits as sock puppets.
Voters are given the lousy choice of loose their liberty right away or loose their liberty gradually.
Meanwhile each new law makes the money guys richer or more powerful or both.
GOOG GRIEF.
“LOOSE” = “LOSE”
I’LL BE BACK AFTER MORE COFFEE.
The problem in the Kelo Case, was not the Supreme Court. It was the idiotic voters in New London who elected a local government to carry out their will. Until these morons are held accountable, nothing will change. The Supreme Court ruled that the States have to act to stop the takeover, that it was not the Feds taking over the property. The problem in Kelo is out of control local governments, empowered by moronic voters. The lesson here is local governments have a more direct impact on ones liberty, than any other level of government. The voters in New London are absolutely the pits, and responsible for the mess.
Unbelievable. Here’s a radical leftist who phones in his decisions, ignoring the Constitution and the law of the land and he is going to pontificate about learning American civics???
NOW his brain starts functining!
A former black robed master speaks.
to Souter: DUH!!!!
