You've seen up-close parking reserved for handicapped drivers or expectant mothers, but a new parking restriction is popping up in Collin County: hybrid-only parking. In an effort to help the environment, the new JC Penney in Fairview has preferential parking for low emitting, fuel efficient vehicles.

Guess where I won’t be shopping this Christmas season...
How do they intend to enforce this? If somebody parks his Hummer there are they going to be towed?
JC Penny is off my shopping list. Sorry to the folks working there.
Here in So CA. some chain restaurants are doing likewise...next-to-the-door spaces are “Reserved for Green Vehicles”.
I park my SUV in these spaces. It’s dark green.
This kinda crap really pisses me off. let's see, I ride my bike to work. I usually only drive on the weekends and that's when we all pile into the car (not a hybrid) to go somewhere together, often shopping. Monday morning, the environmentally unfriendly non-hybrid is parked and I'm back to pedaling my bike. I can get away with one tank of gas a month.
Yet, I have to pay for my parking because I'm not environmentally conscious like the hybrid owner who drives to work every day?
I rarely jump on the boycott wagon but I certainly would not patronize this shopping center and I'd let them know exactly why I'd be taking my business elsewhere. And in this economy, I'm sure there's many establishments who would happily take my business.
Same here in Austin, but it’s expected here. This is THE loony libtard capital of Texas.
It never ceases to amaze me how idiotic some companies can be. Didn’t WalMart and Ford try pandering to the Diversity/Gay crowd here a while back? I don’t remember that going to well. I always thought putting out a good product at a good price and running your business in an ethical manner would get you ahead. Maybe I’m outdated, but it seems like more and more businesses are getting on these political bandwagons, and with very few exceptions, I don’t think it is a smart business move.-—JM
Gee, my compact gets 50% better mileage.
Gonna let me park there, Penneys...?
I dunno about your JCPenney...but mine (and the catalog that I receive from them) sell nothing that would even be remotely construed as a truck or car part.
That said, I have bought furniture from their catalog...and guess what??? Rather than pay for their delivery service...I drove my BIG SUV to their loading dock and picked up my own furniture (my extended body Chevy Trailblazer holds a bedroom dresser nicely). It also has been used to do our own transport of a dishwasher; take kids (in one load/trip!!!) to college. Try that with a itty bitty Prius (or as Matt and Trey at South Park would say, Pious). I can also haul seven people (the occupants of two or possibly three cars!!!) so I am MORE efficient.
Take that JCP!
Note to Penneys: And my compact ain’t a hybrid.
It’s just weird. You’d think that all these “green” drivers would not mind WALKING the 100’ or so to the door...
But noooo
This may be JCP’s idea, or it may be part of their redevelopment permit from the city.
yeah I realized after the post, that dept. failed few years back..they still sell gas outdoor heaters though
(I was gonna quip see how fast it works?...but knew that would’ve flew)
LOL
I would have thought the "green" spaces would be those closest to the parking lot entrance.
I’ll be sure to park my big SUV in one of those spaces whenever I see one.
