LOL

When my son went to his “6th Grade Center” in Las Vegas schools, we received one of those teacher's letter home. The lady that penned the missive had a PhD and used tons of very long words - words badly chosen for the context of the letter.

We went to visit on the so-called teachers night, she inquired about my views on “the letter”.

She seemed shocked when I called it intellectually racist and bigoted. She was shocked - she seemed numb to the idea that most of the students parents were not primary English speakers and would likely find her communication incomprehensible. To her credit, the letter was sent a second time and in simplified English.

Some teacher just live in a different universe than the one most of us inhabit. You did well to pull your children from the school.

Clearly she should have provided translations for all the parents.

Oh, they can't read their native language either ?

Obviously she should have delivered it orally in their native language.

/sarcasm

Sheesh. If you come here you should learn how to speak ENGLISH. And so should the kids !
