LOS ANGELES (AP) - A group of retirees who refused to leave Sen. Dianne Feinstein's West Los Angeles office until she talked to them about health care reform has been arrested.
Los Angeles police Sergeant Rich Brunson said Thursday that at least eight people were being taken into custody and would likely be booked for trespassing and released.
Cate Engel, a spokeswoman for the group California Alliance for Retired Americans, says the activists - all between 55 and 87 years old - wanted to talk to Feinstein about strengthening Medicare and using the program as a model for health reform.
The group arrived at Feinstein's office around noon and refused to leave her conference room until their arrest more than six hours later.
A call to the office seeking comment was not answered.
“Good lord, 50-59 isnt old,guys.”
Trust me. It’s old. I’m there. Not fun.
I remember that well! They even rocked his car after he got in it!!!
What was so funny is that Reagan got the supposed offensive bill passed which would have made the program financially sound today, but Rosty took all the anger!!!
At least that's the way I remember it... Of course Rosty Rostenkowski ended up in prison for quite some time after riding so high during the Reagan years.
Well, I’m 70 and I’m not old.
If they were in a conference room,as stated, there were still options for them to talk to her even if she was in DC.
There are conference phones and also video phones, if I was them and she wasn’t in state, I’d insist on a video conference. She or her office staff could have arranged a video conference, then or at a specified time, if she was really interested in their opinions/input. Obviously she’s not. Wonder why they keep sending her back, her opinion of them is obvious.
They must not have gotten the memo from the AARP.
You should ask your libinlaw why we aren’t pushing for government provided food. Heck, food is higher on the “hierarchy of needs.” Wouldn’t it make sense to meet the most basic needs first.
Probably unconstitutional proselytizing the Islam faith.
guess she isn’t so open for discussion. this should be broadcast through the nation, our kings and queens don’t want to talk to the pesants who they tax to death
