“If we do nothing more than stand back and hope that innovation alone will solve this crisis,” he said, “then our best-trained journalists will lose their jobs.”

---------Do nothing-----------

A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom

If they actually practiced this and added "truth" there would be no need to save them....

Dan, The frequency of the "old media" was curiosity, investigation,
accuracy, truth, and persistence.

The "new media" has no integrity, and is not even a remnant
of the old. As you now show, it must BEG instead of reporting.

COURAGE.

Why would The Zero want to save the news when most of his advisers are reading Huffington Post or Daily Kos anyway?

“...the American press’ traditional role of being the watchdog on power.”

Danny boy, don’t you mean, “being the lapdogs for power?”

I guess that’s fake but accurate.

Doesn't this idiot realize that if this were to happen, we would no longer have a free press?

Dano, your "best-trained journalists" aren't worth a $hit!

And you started the deterioration of your profession while you were reporting on the war out of your room in the Hotel Carravel in Siagon! You were a communist whore then and you have gone downhill since!

How soon people forget!

This is the guy who had the "fake but true" papers re President Bush's service in the Air Force. This is the guy who slanted the news to the left for decades. This is the guy who was one of the most arrogant, egotistical "news reporters" to ever come on the scene.

He also used to be my neighbor. Thank God and Greyhound he left town so I don't have to run into him anymore!

It always grieves me to realize that he was born and bred in Texas.....but I guess one slips through every once in a while.

“Without action, he predicted, America will lose its independent media.”

Hey Danno, it was the real independent media that PROVED you were a lying sack of $hit!

....as a journalist and as a citizen I just can’t stand to leave those guys out there, fighting, dying, bleeding, getting torn up.....

He's not talking about our soldiers here. The pissass piece of garbage is talking about his fellow self-absorbed 'journalist' brethren.

Dan means “truth” as in Pravda, don’t you know, and all he seeks is the same support Pravda had in the days of the evil empire, and for the same reasons.

A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom,”

Courage, Dan'l, courage.

First you've got to extract the presses collective noses from the hind end of the Prexy.

A government press differs little from Pravda and Tass of the old USSR.

When the media are more than stenographers for Gibbs and Zerobama, then we'll talk red beating hearts of democracy.

Not until.

The free press, as established by the First Amendment to the Constitution, ought to operate as a public trust, not solely as a money-making endeavor, Rather argued,

Dan RaTHer of fake document claim. He must think that the State Run Media is truthful.

The public lost trust in the media long before your fake National Guard document story. What a moron.

“A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom,”

How is a press sucking on the government teat and simply acting as a PR agency for an incumbent political party "free" or "independent"?

You know it would probably be just as effective a use of taxpayers dollars to create a new Czar in charge of playing with all the “SuperPoke Pets” on Facebook.

That is at least as worthy an idea as Dan “What’s the Frequency” Rather’s.

Oh Danny boy, the network types are falling
From rags to rags, a downward market slide
Old Walters gone, and network powers are dying
‘Tis you, ‘tis you must go your face to hide.
But come ye back when hell feels cool and mellow
Or when the devils playing in the snow
‘Cause I’ll be here with fake TANG memo throbbing
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, you too must go.

And if you come, when all the networks dying
And they are dead, as dead I they can be
You’ll come and find the treasury is piling
up stacks of stimulus for buggy whips and thee.

Why should ozero bail out the media? They already have one sided praising coverage. Kinda like getting free milk from the cow. And if the media continues to lose jobs, they will not report this because it looks bad for their guy. I think they are caught between a rock and a hard place. If they had been honest about ozero and the dims, they would all be fat and happy with fat balance sheets now. Sucks to be them.
