As repeatedly stated to several in the media over the last week, former Governor Sarah Palin is not committed to attend the Simi Valley Republican Women’s event at the Reagan Library and in fact is not attending the event. Neither the Governor’s state staff nor SarahPAC has ever committed to attending this event or speaking at this event, and even requested that the Governor's name be removed from the invitation several weeks ago. The Governor has other work and commitments to take care of at that time. She looks forward to visiting her friends in California soon.
All event requests must be confirmed not by the invitee but rather through Meghan Stapleton with SarahPAC. Additionally, all invitations bearing the Governor’s name must be approved by her attorney before proceeding.

Not to mention Team Sarah. Lots of folks there too.
I doubt that the SV group would put her name on the invite w/o at least some indication that she mught attend. Her appearance was been widely reported in SoCal media for a while and SP should’ve given a yeah or nay a long time ago. If she can’t demonstrate that she can run Sarah Inc., her cred is going to shrink dramatically. I say this as a fervent supporter.
BTW I don’t know why she wouldn’t want to speak at the Reagan Library for her first post-governor appearance. What a better setting.
People know that saying Palin is going to be there will make it a sold out event. So they want to say Palin is going to be there on the invitations they send out.
Palin’s lawyer is saying “Don't do it unless we say it is OK, and Palin is actually going to be there.”
That being said, Palin SHOULD go to the Reagan Library for the launch of her post-Governorship political career.

UPDATE: In addition to several Tweets, the Simi Valley group has placed the following statement on their Facebook page:
We regret to inform you that Governor Sarah Palin is unable to attend our event on August 8, 2009. As stated, we invited her to attend and we were honored by her consideration. We sincerely appreciate the support of our members and guests. We will refund ticket purchases for anyone who chooses not to attend. Contact us by end of business Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at pjselephant@aol.com with your name, address, and telephone number for refunds. We apologize for any inconvenience.
I bet Nancy had something to do with it. Jelousy is so ugly.
