More than 200 Jewish extremists have reportedly entered al-Aqsa Mosque, positioning themselves inside the holy site, allegedly to perform religious rituals.
According to a statement released by the Al-Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage, the incursion was "significant". The foundation has called on Muslims, Arabs and all Palestinians to take action in support of the mosque.
The attack comes amidst Tisha B'Av, also known as "The Ninth of Av" -- a Jewish fasting day in commemoration of the destruction of the two Temples. The occasion falls on the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av, which usually coincides with late July or mid-August.
The First Temple was built by King Solomon and was considered the most sacred site in ancient Judaism. It was destroyed when the Babylonians pillaged Jerusalem (al-Quds) in 586 BCE.
According to Jewish accounts, the construction of the Second Temple was completed in 516 BCE on the site of the First Temple but was destroyed during the Roman siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE.
The destruction of the two Temples allegedly took place on the same day -- the ninth of Av -- but about 656 years apart.
The storming of al-Aqsa Mosque -- a holy site in the eyes of many Muslims -- has drawn anti-Israeli condemnation. Former Palestinian minister for al-Quds affairs, Hatem Abdel Qader, has warned that the Israeli government is "playing with fire" by allowing far-right Jewish groups to put the mosque in harm's way.
Abdel Qader resigned from his post last month after he censured the acting Palestinian Authority for neglecting al-Quds. He says the Salam Fayyad government refuses to uphold its commitments to the city, which is undergoing a difficult period.
According to Abdel Qader, the Palestinian Finance Ministry "contributes nothing to the effort to keep the residents on their land."
No they weren't. See the Books of Samuel and Kings.
That dome has been there for a lot longer than the Israeli state. The state of Israel is our ally and while it should be supported by the USA as any other ally, this temple mount deal is nothing but two groups of people fighting over the ownership of a glorified tourist trap and as in all such property disputes, long term possession ought to be decisive.
Which is why it belongs to the Jews. Well, actually to HaShem.
That depends on the Halakhah.
The world would be a whole lot better off with less "holy sites" of all religious persuasions.
The world wouldn't exist if the G-d of Israel had not chosen to create it.
And yet it is, because so many Americans acknowledge the Jewish G-d and Scriptures.
Someone posted a cartoon of the Four Hearsemen With the Alpaca Lips.
Must have been inspired by a mortician’s quote.
It’s a hoax. The Israeli police shut down the Temple Mount to all visitors today. They do this every Tisha B’Av, to prevent religious Jews (i.e., “Jewish extremists” in leftist/Iranian parlance) from doing something as dastardly as praying on Temple Mount.
nothing on ynet or Arutz Sheva or Jerusalem Post, but I think this might be about the American Resident on JP

Quite.
Jewish "extremists" perform religious rituals.
Muslim extremists (redundant as that may be) perform beheadings.
Solomon’s Temple was rebuilt, not a second one built in place, so, you made an error
remember, they rebuilt the walls of Solomon’s Temple when they returned, they didn’t build a new one.
Herod built another temple but since religious ceremonies were never interrupted, his was considered as a continuation of the Second Temple. That is my understanding as what the people are saying.
Personally, I’d like to see it done with a single artillery shell..
you can try to reword it all you want, the ‘second’ temple was a rebuilt Solomon’s temple. It had the same foundation and walls as the first
Herod’s temple was new from the ground up
A “Jewish Extremist” is a Jew that wants to stop Muslims from killing him.
“The Israeli government having gotten wind of it intervened to prevent tragedy of unimagined proportions.”
Interestingly, 911 is glossed over while such an event with Muslim victims is a “tragedy of unimagined proportions”.
History tells us that Muslims understand best power and vengeance.
The Jews regard Herod’s Temple as a continuation of the Second. Are you saying they are wrong? Talk to any rabbi. Case closed.
ask your Rabbi which foundation Herod’s Temple was built upon
Cuz I think me and you agree, there was Solomon’s, the rebuilt upon Solomons, and the NEW Temple built by Herod, all new stone, NOT wood like Solomon’s
we KNOW Herod’s temple was stone, what does the Bible say Solomon’s was made of?
I’m sure Israel has plenty of nukes. Given their combined brain power, I am sure they have the neutron bomb as well.
When the Jews returned from Babylon, they built the Second Temple. Historians say it was quite a bit smaller than the original structure. There were no religious rites performed there for decades during the Exile. That is why it was called the Second Temple because the sacrifices were restarted. Herod built a magnificent structure but since it incorporated the altar and religious rites were not suspended, it was considered as a continuation of the Second Temple. That is my understanding.
