Obama Lectures the Country on Race, Economy

In his fourth prime-time news conference since taking office in January, Obama departed from his academic style briefly when he was asked about the arrest of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. at Gates's home July 16. A white police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, responding to a neighbor's phone call that a burglary might be in progress, found Gates, who is black, inside the house after he forced open a jammed door. Gates showed the officer his identification, and an altercation ensued. He was charged with disorderly conduct, but the charges were dropped. Gates, a friend of the president's, portrayed the incident as racial profiling.

Obama said pointedly, "Now, I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home." Obama continued: "What I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact." It was his strongest display of emotion during the hourlong news conference. [Read Obama's Comments on Gates Arrest Stir Controversy]

A bit too much time at Reverend Wright's Church of Whats Happin Now...

I can hear him now using the Soto-mayor excuse “it was a poor choice of words that I only said once.”

He gave a press conference today? I missed it. The Cubs are on WGN; far more important than watching 0bama.

The only time I concern myself with race is when somebody is using it as an excuse or a hustle that ignores Rev. King’s admonition to judge based upon the content of one’s character.

Regarding the Professor Gates and Sgt.Crowley issue, Obama recently said:

“I don’t know all the facts but that the Cambridge Police acted stupidly.”

Obama has a MAJOR CHARACTER ISSUE, PERIOD!

I didn't know we elected a Lecturer in Chief. Obama needs to give the lectures a rest and relaize that he is more than just the president of black America. He instead needs to start showing that he is competent, which is highly debatable at this time.

I wish he would hold a presser everyday. His pole numbers go down every time. I think people are getting sick of this pompous twit.
