I started reading C&E News in 1965. I agree that it has been a very good publication. I am excited that the readers have been so vocal in hammering Baum for this blatantly unscientific opinion.

Nice to see the real scientists developing more of a spine.
Those who were willing to throw science under the bus for political correctness are the ones who should be removed and ostracized.

Dr. Howard Hayden, a Physics Professor Emeritus from the University of Connecticut: Baum's remarks are particularly disquieting because of his hostility toward skepticism, which is part of every scientist's soul. Let's cut to the chase with some questions for Baum: Which of the 20-odd major climate models has settled the science, such that all of the rest are now discarded? [...] Do you refer to 'climate change' instead of 'global warming' because the claim of anthropogenic global warming has become increasingly contrary to fact?"Ping

The title is misleaading based on the article.
The only person startled is an editor who is not obviously a scientist.

The headline is fine. This isn’t the same as “cop in Boston” bullsh-t. The “powers that be” are startled - by increasingly large numbers of people calling them on their bullsh-t.

It’s one person. There’s no major science group that is “startled.”

Well, the ACS is full of serious, hard scientists. Theyre chemists and ChemEs - you dont get much more serious than that. And they are seriously PO'd at the editor's attitude. The letters are a great read - telling him off in ultra-literate polysyllabic vitriol. I think they may be Janeites.

Thanks! The man-made climate fear movement is collapsing from within. We have to continue pushing it!

I thought the difference between a BA and a BS is that a BA requires two years of a foreign language.

I think you would still get the BS in chemistry if you took all the required math and science courses. If you had an additional 2 years of language that would probably earn a dual degree BA/BS
I once knew someone who had a BA in chemistry from Tulane. She had no physics (my BS required 10 hours of calculus based physics) and about 2/3 the hours of chemistry I needed for my major. She also had to take less math.

Thanks to you!!!!! Unlike Europeans, Americans are uppity cusses!
No Oligarchy is going to establish itself as our economic, thought and political masters because of their Ivy Leauge college degrees.
Hear that banksters? You shook down the Treasury...but you are not out of the woods for what you have done to the taxpayers and small investors. Like the global warmers, sometimes you can win over the political class and lose the long term real power - the American people. Al Gore got away only so far and now his chickens are coming home to roost.
