She saw two guys she didn’t know, one of whom was black, breaking into a house so she decided to err on the side of caution and call the cops. Ergo, racism. As it turns out, she didn’t identify either Gates or his cab driver as black in the actual call to police, a fact the media paid some attention to after the tape was released as possibly exonerating her of any malign intent. But as a lefty friend said to me today, what would it prove if she had ID’d them by race? That’s a standard detail given in any description of a suspect. Is the new reality that it’s okay to assume the worst about a break-in so long as the suspects aren’t minorities, but if they are minorities, it automatically becomes improper? Explain to me what she did that warranted the death threats here.
Meanwhile, not one, not two, but three separate liberals who follow me on Twitter thought it was important that I be informed that a cop who appears to have no connection to Crowley and who in fact works in a different police department than he does used a racial slur against Gates in an e-mail. What lesson I’m supposed to glean from that fact is unclear, but I have a hunch this Patterico post on stereotyping might be worth re-reading. Exit question: How come Whalen wasn’t invited to be part of tomorrow’s “teachable moment”/kegger at the White House? Evidently she wants to be.

The media is now spinning the story as if our punk rabble rousing president is the Great Peacemaker, with cute stories about picking out the antagonists favorite beer for the big meeting at the White House.
NO mention of president's ignorant and unnecessary comments that inflamed the whole situation. Sickening.

I want a word that black people are not allowed to call white people. It may not be printed, spoken in general conversation, or broadcast on TV. I am leaning toward hillbilly, but that is my own cultural bias coming from a VA mountain town. I am certainly open to other words.
I think Jeff Foxworthy owns “redneck” so perhaps we should stay away from that one. Perhaps “trailer trash” or “white trash” should be verboten.
Blacks have any number of words/phrases that are banned. Women (an I am one of them) claim a certain “c” word that you had better not use. What do white men have? Come on guys, what pizzes you off beyond belief? Claim it, own it, and dare anyone to ever call you that again.
Cracker and Peckerwood are now to be considered the equivalent of the “N” word or any form of monkey reference.
That should about level the speaking field.

It always pisses me off when the local news people give the details of a violent robbery and assault but then gloss over the details of the suspects. If I can eliminate 90 percent of people as potential suspects simply by knowing the sex and race of the suspects, wouldn’t that be better than not knowing? Honest citizens are dying in the name of political correctness.
Cracker. Ok I have seen than one twice and it makes sense. From this point on, should any white man (and perhaps woman but lets wait a while) be called a “cracker”, it is equal to a black man called the “N” word.
White men own Cracker. It is now the “C” word for men. Rail against it. Demand that media outlets stop using it. Write songs using it and dare others defy you. Should you see the “C” word in a public forum, let them know of the racist foul they have committed. The Prez is a black/white dude so you have some “cred” now.
