TORONTO She presented a facade of normalcy, yet harboured an obsessive jealousy that led to the murder of a 14-year-old girl she had never met.
Melissa Todorovics identity is no longer protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, but how she thinks remains largely a mystery and therefore, a judge concluded, a potential danger to the publics safety.
On Tuesday, she was sentenced to a lifetime in jail with no chance at parole for seven years the stiffest possible prison term available after a jury convicted Todorovic in March of first-degree murder in the death of Stefanie Rengel. Todorovic was six days shy of her 16th birthday when an eight-month campaign to pressure her teenage boyfriend into murder reached its fatal conclusion on Jan. 1, 2008....
In his 23-page judgment, Justice Nordheimer recounted the relentless campaign for blood that was detailed in transcripts of electronic messages sent between the two killers, in which particulars such as gloves and masks and the best way to kill are discussed.
