Barred from indulging in public spaces, taxed on their habit, targeted by public health campaigns, shunned socially?

"I simply turn on the Golden EIB Microphone and share my honest passions and beliefs with people. And they're free to go elsewhere. They're free to ignore; they're free to believe; they're free to be entertained, I don't care. They're free to do whatever they want. But a lot of people aren't free to smoke cigarettes where they want; they're not free to drink where they want; they're not free to eat the kind of food they want to eat; they're not free to eat trans fats; they're not free to drive certain places. Pretty soon we're going to be told what kind of cars we have to drive. I can't cause that. I can't restrict anybody's freedom. We've elected a guy who can, does, and wants to, all under the guise of saving us. So I appreciate the effort, and I appreciate somewhat losing my temper here. But don't compare me ever to an authoritarian who thinks so little of people that without him they can barely breathe on their own. Don't ever do that." LEARN IT, LOVE IT, LIVE IT! If one cannot understand Rush's words above, then one does not truly understand FREEDOM! |
Obese people should have to go outside to eat!
NANNY STATE, PING!
Second-hand eating: the quiet epidemic. Kills 20,000 people a year.
No. They have enough problems, and it’s not the government’s business. People have gotten way too involved in their neighbor’s lives.
“Obese people should have to go outside to eat!”
I quit smoking 18 mos ago and put on weight. =(
I can’t win.
Maybe smoking and being obese should be officially sanctioned and recognized by the state.
After all, same-sex marriage is legal in several states, notwithstanding the proven link between certain homosexual sex practices and diseases.
We need to be consistent!
(sarcasm/society has gone off the rails alert)
...I'm spreading the rumor Odumbo wants to shoot our new Splurgent General, Donut Dolly
I think there should be laws regarding the appropriate use of spandex.
Wow, who could have seen this coming? /sarc
CORRECT!!!
The problem is CONSISTENCY with our laws.
Revelation 13:17
so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Hi there, my dear!
How the heck are you?
So very nice to see you again.
I hope all is well with you and the Mr.
According to FNC morning show an LA Times article today suggested putting an extra tax on obese people to help cover healthcare costs. You know, I can’t wait for the writer of the article to figure out that the largest Americans are black, hispanic and the poor.
I’m sure they will back off that little tax the fat people mantra.
Yet more evidence of liberal stupidity. The free market, not to mention nature itself, handles obesity. Fat people have to deal with shunning, especially from the opposite sex, without any mandate from on high. And huffing andf puffing from going up a few stairs is enough of a health-scare on its own. Most importantly, if we all had to pay for our own healthcare, you better believe there’d be more of an economic incentive to be thin than a “fat tax” could ever provide.
That’s a decision you made and rightly so. The government has no right to say you can’t smoke, can’t eat, can’t walk, can’t sleep, can’t laugh, can’t vote. Unless of course, they want complete control over your life. They think they can force the American into Utopia.
All of the above plus be hidden from public view by wearing burkas!
Save a whale, harpoon a fat chick!
I don’t like to see fat people.
I don’t like to smell fat people.
I shouldn’t have to see/smell fat people in public!!!
Isn’t it GREAT how we TREAT ONE ANOTHER?
Since the majority of people in the United States are either overweight or obese (myself included) I see this as a non-starter, unless the Democrats are suicidal. The only reason they are able to pick on the smokers is due to their numbers and society’s increasing distaste with their habit. Does anyone see anything similar coming down the pike as regards eating?
