This will be the next major national tea party. We all need to get organized and ready for the NATIONWIDE Aug 22 Recess Rally. Let's get them while they are on recess so they can see for themselves, how their constituents feel about ObamaCare.

This is exactly the bold, forceful but not abrasive kind of action that I hoped to see.

I’m in.

I thought it was going to be 12 September. 22 August might be too soon to get what we need accomplished done by then. We want to have a big turn out like Tax Day. 4 July was a failure and we don’t need two failures in a row. 12 September is perfect because people have been notified of this date for months. I appreciate your efforts but we need planning and 25 days is not enough IMHO. However, if you go for it, good luck.

“We know exactly what they’re trying to do, but liberal Democrats and their followers continue to push the legislation through.”

This is more than just “liberal Democrats” at stake. But those so-called Republican weak necks too.

And this is more than just health care. It’s about “We the People” being sold a bill of goods. Being forced into a fascist regime. Idiots in Congress who pass major economic destruction packages—such as the so called Emergency Stimulus Bill— (of which only 10% has even been spent—thank goodness—some emergency,eh? Haven’t even spent it) and a Crap and Trade Bill (which will send our economy to the dark ages—not to mention Congress never even took the time to read it.

This is more about a bunch of self serving traitors intentionally and willfully destroying the Republic and subsequent removal of their employment. And hopefully future trial.

“the next major national tea party”

Hopefully, it will be a great warmup to the March on Washington Sept. 12.

As important as the protests at individual congressional offices is getting the local press to cover it. Politicians only care about 2 things, money and votes. The national media (MSM) will trivilaize and denigrate you, but generally you’ll get a better shake from the local media and nothing scares a pol more than having negative video show up on the local 6pm news.

If you don’t have a good PR/Media system and training on the local level, these kind of events are a waste of time and money. They’ll make the participants feel good for a moment, believing they’ve “done something”, but that soon turns into depression when they realize their tree fell and it made no noise. It then makes it ten times as difficult to mount a future offensive when you really need it.

I don’t know what the Tea Party organizers are doing, but training their local activist leaders in the ways of PR/Media is the best return on the investment of time and energy.

I don’t want to be negative but centralized national rallies/protests, particularly in DC, are a waste of time, money and energy for conservatives. You rely on the national press (MSM) to get your word out but they will only trivialize and denigrate the effort because they are all libs hostile to your message.

One couple may spend thousands of dollars in travel expenses to this event. Putting that investment into local efforts is 100 times more productive. The call for visits to local reps offices is a better plan (with proper media coordination) but calling for national rallies in DC is insane and wasteful.

Just ask the Right to life groups who hold an annual rally in DC. They’ve had hundreds of thousands of people show up and the result is almost a complete media black out of their effort. And I hate to be negative, but my feeling is this rally they’re planning at best may attract 10-20 thousand, which sounds good but will be spun by the MSM as a total failure and rejection of the Tea party ideals.

“All politics is local”...it’s best to keep this in mind.

The issue is right, the time? More than enough, people are really upset about health care...

I felt Sept 11-12 was questionable. It seemed to be “crowding out the 11th and it’s somber meaning.

If August is well attended all over the country...it might just make the DC Rally better and attended by folks who are excited by the recess rally.

For what its worth,I posted a similar thread asking for local freeps during the recess.I`ve taken the liberty of adding a link to your thread and others to the appropriate sites mentioned. This push to control our lives MUST be stopped, but as an added bonus,it also has the potential to really help derail this regime early on in it`s run so we really need to get behind this and make some noise.I suggest posting links to this thread or the web sites mentioned on all our state boards. To all freepers reading this: If you are a member of a state board, please pass this along to your respective board with links to the web sites which support this drive. We need to show the Barky-ites that freedom will not go down that easy.

Stop wasting your time with these protests and use your time, energy and money to elect people to public office who will do the right thing. Get the candidates now and start campaigning now.

Aug 22 is a Saturday. Doubt my congressman’s office will be open. Will that get much coverage?

I think if you just show up at your local legislator’s office that should be enough. Not a lot of planning involved.

I’ve thought about that one, too. If Congresscritters’ offices are closed on Saturdays, then this rally becomes pointless and useless, IMO.
