Three men, beer and an explosive issue (Stupidgate)
China Daily / The Associated Press ^ | July 29, 2009

The professor, the policeman and the president are ready to share a beer - and maybe a few thoughts about race and law enforcement in the US.

The gathering set for tomorrow evening may help President Barack Obama write a sudsy but happy ending to an arrest that triggered a fierce debate over race relations and briefly knocked him off his stride.

--snip--

Crowley, who is white, arrested Gates, who is black, after an investigation into a suspected burglary found no burglars but escalated into a heated exchange between the men at Gates' home. When Obama said last Wednesday that the police had "acted stupidly," the national debate over racial profiling become so fierce that the president had to intercede again on Friday to get the public's attention back to his health care agenda.(continued)

Would you go to this "beer-fest" if you were Sergeant Crowley?

Will never happen.

Drama queen Gates was low on money, so he totally orchestrated this little performance in hopes of getting some cold cash in this racial litigation scam.

If the cop doesn’t tell Zero off, and tell Gates what an ass he is, the cop is a ball-less P.O.S.

The kinda guy, in a word, the likes handing out speeding tickets because there’s no risk there...

It’s not as if Crowley really has a choice. It has always been rather an imperative to accept an invitation to the White House, regardless of who its resident may be and the invitee’s personal feelings for said office holder. It’s just part of living in a ‘civil’ society.

Not that it will, but the best thing that could come of this is if they got Gates to spend a day a week for the next year or so riding a shift in a patrol car. Let him see it from the PD perspective. He could even write a book about his experience. Maybe Crowley could then teach a class at Harvard.

It's comforting to know, when troops in Afghanistan are losing their lives at an ever-increasing rate, and when millions of Americans are out of work and struggling to feed their family, that the President can take time out of his schedule for a photo-op to try and clean up his own mess.

We are so screwed as long as this imbecile is in the White House. I'd rather have his dog as President.

A majority of Americans voted for BO. What does that tell you?

In the first place, I was hoping there was some way for Sgt. Crowley to get out of this. I think he is in a bind now and must accept the invitation....after all, he is going to be watched closely by the Cambridge PD, and refusing the invite would be a reflection on the entire department and I am sure he is too much of a man to do that. On the other hand while meeting with 2 racists, I hope Sgt. Crowley holds his own, represents his PD well and does not let either of these 2 put anything over on him.
It would be interesting if the get together will be broadcast, so as not to let either of these 2 spin it in a way that they come out as non-racist.
If these two do not apologize directly to Sgt. Crowley for their actions (Gates) and words (0bama) then this whole thing will be nothing more than a photo op setup.

It looks like he is going and I’m dissapointed but not surprised. I think the incident hurt Obama at least a little and that is a good thing. So f-ing po’d at the media right now.

“A majority of Americans voted for BO. What does that tell you?”
For what it is worth, I play golf with a group here in Hilo, HI that is made up mostly of WWll vets who are second generation Japanese. The other day one of the guys said to me, “what the hell is wrong with all you white guys? You put this idiot in office, and now all of us are going to suffer for it.”

I’m tempted to say 1/20/13 can’t come soon enough, except the GOP and conservatives just can’t seem to get their ‘stuff’ together and we’ll probably end up with 4 more long, painful years.

Sergeant Crowley, by accepting the invitation, has made himself a Useful Idiot.

Congrats Sergeant, you are now a tool of the Dear Leader.

Great job giving up your self respect Officer.

Kind of reminds me of Lindsey Graham folding on the Sotomayer vote today. Another clueless tool of the Statists.

Actually, a majority of those who voted, not a majority of Americans. With a turd like McCain, the GOP didn’t stand a chance against Mom Jeans.

What kind of Hollywood BS is this?!??! Doesn't Obama have anything better to do? Apparently, this POTUS thin is getting a bit boring for such an intellectual giant!

FDR was elected FOUR times during the Great Depression. People were suffering but they loved their communist dictator!
