Via Mediaite, something to start the conversational ball rolling at that not-all-awkward White House drink-up on Thursday.
Mediaite has obtained a transcript from former Sec. of State Colin Powells interview on CNNs Larry King Live tonight, in which Powell comments on the Professor Gates story, as well as Sarah Palin and more
I would say, the first teaching point is when youre faced with an officer trying to do his job and get to the bottom of something. This is not the time to get in an argument with him. I was taught that as a child. You dont argue with a police officer. In fact, in our schools today, in order to make sure that we dont have things escalate out of control and lead to very unfortunate situations, we tell our kids, when youre being asked something by a police officer, being detained by a police officer, cooperate. If you dont like what happened, or if you think that you have been exposed to something thats racist or prejudicial or something thats wrong, then you make a complaint afterwards and you sue him.

I can assure you that if Gates had invited the officer in, offered him a cup of coffee, and clamly explained what an idiot he was for forgetting his keys, then offered to thank the neighbor who called in the call, this would not have made the news. On the other hand, when you are a distinguished professor of racial hatred in a lib institution, this is an irresistible opportunity to show the folks that YOU are the BIG MAN here...
I think he's some rap artist or something.
“Are they friends”
Most of the HNIC wannabes are each other’s friends.
i still belive this was a set up by the professor and possibly more. this whole thing smells fishy!
Yeah, that is why he voted for a marxist who is doing his best to destroy this country.
Nice try Colon we know full well who you are and it is not good so go have a beer with Buds Zero and Skippy
At least he said it....(trying to get Rep. credentials back?)
Powell lost all credibility with the American people when he voted for Obama.
The article said, quoting Powell — I would say, the first teaching point is when youre faced with an officer trying to do his job and get to the bottom of something.

Exactly right. That should be common sense with most people, but if it’s not — it should be said. It’s too bad Gates didn’t learn that one...
struttin up to gates.....yeah, unh huh, das right baby, we bad, yeahhhh
Powell is unhappy that he wasn’t invited to the White House for a beer.
He should take this as a teaching moment.
The Bowels have spoken!
“Skip” is a WASP nickname, like “Biff” or “Scooter.” Who does this Gates think he is?!
There was actually a time I would have voted for Powell for President and he probably would have won.
All he is and all he will ever be was gained as a direct result of Republican patronage which make the fact that he betrayed his party and his good friend McCain all the more vicious -and he threw it all away because another candidate from another party was the same skin color as he.
Good advice, General.
Oh, and while you’re at it, KMA you BamBam worshipping traitor!
It is common sense. If you watch COPS, you see how many people get taken down just for being jerks. In most cases they would have been free to go on their way, but they start fighting with the officer, etc.
LOL
Never start a conversation with a cops by saying (very loudly and while waving arms)
“Do you know who I am!!!”
Officer Friendly certainly does not but will be happy to introduce you to Mr TASER.
Is Powell one of the people that benefits from INKSPOT- the “foundation that Gates controls- which has a large disparity between incoming money and outgoing grants.??
