Greenpeace USA said Tuesday that it painted a message on the roof of Hewlett-Packard Co.s head office in Palo Alto and voice-mailed HP employees with messages from William Shatner protesting the use of toxic materials.
The group claimed that its members had painted the words "Hazardous Materials" and Greenpeace on the roof using non-toxic childrens' fingerpaint. The message reportedly is spread over about 11,500 square feet.
The Washington, D.C.-based group also said it had sent voice messages to HP employees from Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek, calling on the company to phase out toxic chemicals.

The group claimed that its members had painted the words "Hazardous Materials" and Greenpeace on the roof using non-toxic childrens' fingerpaint.Meanwhile HP will paint over this using regular, non-non toxic paint.

Guess nothing is clean and non-hazardous for these jerks. Back in the good old days (late 60s) the facilities guys would have to go up on the roof of the semi plant I worked at to clear off the dead birds that resulted from (mainly) silane releases.
The HP plant is probably not even emitting anything (heck they are in CA), probably just using the usual assortment of chemicals that they have to use, each of which is tightly controlled with regard to emissions.

I notice that Greenpeace did not pull a stunt like this in China.
If they keep the heat on HP, they will simply move production to China, and the problem will be “solved”.

Meanwhile the rain can wash the large quantity of non-toxic finger paint into the storm drains. Did they check to see if that would have an effect on any stormwater permits? Oh, I forgot - non-toxic always = perfectly safe.
