More than eight months after President Barack Obama won the White House, the remnants of his campaign organization is struggling to deal with some unfinished business: returning about $669,000 in tainted or illegal campaign contributions to a motley assortment of donors, among them a convicted murderer, Washington lobbyists and a number of foreign nationals, including his own aunt.
But the 11 Chicago-based staff members still on the campaign’s payroll are finding it was a lot easier to rake in a record-shattering $750 million than to identify and return donations that ran afoul of federal election laws or Obama’s own strict fundraising standards.
Their intensive effort to refund problem contributions has involved detailed research into lobbying records and passport information, an elaborate accounting system that cancels and reissues stale-dated refund checks and phone calls and letters urging donors to cash their refunds. The effort is unprecedented in modern politics, according to election law compliance experts, and underscores both the logistical challenges of processing so much contribution data and the Obama team’s hypersensitivity to anything that could sully the president’s carefully honed image as a crusader against special interests and a champion of ethics and transparency.

well, with his co-horts now in office, why would they investigate themselves? Mainstream media is certainly not interested whether they do or not. I mean, look at how they’re hounding Sarah Palin....but this doesn’t afford a whisper out of them.

OK, that made me laugh. This from the campaign which refused to impose standard controls over credit card contributions, since that would have prevented them from getting overseas money.
It sounds like criminals, murderers, and lobbyists were able to buy the influence they needed by providing an interest-free loan to Obama and get fully reimbursed.
When I held my nose and sent money to the McCain campaign (only hoping to keep BHO out of the office), I knew I would not get any influence with anybody. And I will never see that money again.
Seems the spin doctors can muzzle almost anything except his mouth. I do wonder how many hundreds of millios came from overseas cronies...would that be the reason he’s bowing to a Wahabi king and kissing major arab butt? neh, he just wants to be king himself.

I doubt seriously the money is being returned.
I wonder how much of the money he got from overseas came from us in the first place????

How about reminding them that any smuck could give money from anywhere in the Universe via Cash Credit Cards! ZERO’S Campaign refused to impliment any validation procedures regarding card usage. Anyone was buying a cash card at the local Walmart and transferring funds: just imagining the Millions and Hundreds of Millions of Corrupt money that came out of that Decrepit Funeral Home in New Orleans which also orchestrated “The Katrina Disaster!” ACORN, SEIC, and three hundred other dirty Community Extortion Groups!

I, personally, know of one Dutch person here in this country who donated.... simply put it on his credit card. I ran his name and there it was, two donations of $750. And that’s got to be a drop in the bucket.
I still don’t understand why foreigners wanted Obama elected so badly they would illegally donate large sums of money to his campaign. Why did they care?
Yea! and McCain loaded the deck against Us by empoying a DEMOCRAT who Loved OBOZO as McCain’s CAMPAIGN MANAGER! Incidently. both McCain’s and Obozo’s Campaign Managers were University of Delaware Dropouts or Flunkouts as the case maybe. The guy took great glee in telling the Delaware Audience that he told McCain at the beginning he had virtually NO CHANCE of WINNING!! GREAT CAMPAIGN MANAGER CHOICE, McLAME!!
