Twenty-six percent (26%) of voters nationwide say President Obama did a good or excellent job answering a press conference question about an incident involving a white Cambridge, Massachusetts policeman and a black Harvard professor. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 46% rate the president’s response as poor.

Beneath the top line numbers is a huge gap between the way that white and black Americans view the situation.

Seventy-one percent (71%) of African-Americans say the president’s response was good or excellent, a view shared by just 22% of white Americans.
At the other extreme, 53% of white voters gave the president’s response a poor grade. Only five percent (5%) of black Americans offered such a negative response.
African-Americans, by a two-to-one margin, say the question was inappropriate. Whites are fairly evenly divided on the appropriateness of the question.
Seventy-three percent (73%) of African-American voters believe that most blacks receive unfair treatment from the police. Just 21% of white voters share that view.
Thirty-two percent (32%) of black voters say that most policemen are racist, but 52% disagree.
Among white voters, just seven percent (7%) believe that most policemen are racist and 71% say they are not.
On a partisan basis, 50% of Democrats say the president’s response was good or excellent. White Democrats are less supportive than black Democrats. The president’s response earned a poor rating from 77% of Republicans and 52% of those not affiliated with either major party.

I think you’re on spot. I’d like to see Rasmussen ask this simple question: Is America more divisive today than one year ago?
The vast majority of Blacks are going to support Chairman BO, regardless of what he does. It is a waste of time to even poll them. The Socialists are going to support Chairman BO, because the ends justifies the means. If you have to slander a policeman or two, so what? 30 percent of the population is going to support Chairman BO unless he fails to implement Marxism.
As a matter of fact, in another forum I belong to, it was one of the most liberal members who started a thread, right after the reports started coming in. He was pretty critical. It’s the first time I’ve seen that in any of his posts.
While watching the morning news shows earlier today....this “beer with the president” and his so-called “teaching moment” (which we all KNOW is supposed to be for the policeman who was just doing his job & did it correctly!) is as disingenuous and shallow as a boss suggesting a “group hug” to resolve an office conflict.
like someone previously stated on FR....zero could eat live babies on TV and 30% would approve.
That’s less than half the support he gets for swatting a fly ... he messed up big time.

No matter what O does, it’s okay. Why?? Because he Black (half black) and no one in the republican party, has the intestinal fortitude, to stand up to the illegal president. Why doesn’t O just prove he is a legal citizen in the United States?? Why? Because they use this subject to distraught the media from actual important stuff.

Zero could elicit a race war in a heartbeat if he wished, and hell, they’ve said and shown time and again they’re willing to create and/or exploit any good crisis. Remember the threats of a race war if he lost the election? Ya think it got better?
If Obama smoked crack with a hooker in a DC hotel while using his city credit card...they would re-elect him, just like Marion Barry.
