Okay, this is getting really good. Dem Rep. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii is going to introduce a resolution on the House floor today that seems designed to put House GOPers who are flirting with birtherism in a jam.
The measure Abercrombie will introduce commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. But here’s the rub, his spokesman tells me: It describes Hawaii as Barack Obama’s birthplace.
“In the language of the resolution, there is a statement that Hawaii is the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States,” Abercrombie spokesman Dave Helfert confirms.
That confronts House GOPers with a choice: They can vote for the measure, and endorse the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, which could earn the wrath of birthers. Or they can vote against commemorating the 50th state’s joining of our blessed Union. Or GOPers can skip the vote, but that could look nutty.

Isn’t this a judicial issue? Tell the legislative branch to pound sand.

Well, Rep. Neil Abercrombie, Dem. of Hawaii, should just add to his resolution that the original Obama BC, which two officials of the state of Hawaii say they have, that the original BC should be released by the state to add even more credibility to this festive occasion.
A Democratic resolution does not make it so.
Hmmmm---now THAT is a very interesting thought. Could be that the Dem's sarcasm will land them in a heap of trouble??
This will bestow no LEGAL status, as “Natural Born Citizen” means CITIZEN AT BIRTH!
I bet that this piece of legislation will never be introduced.

It seems to me that there would be a dozen different ways to embarrass the Democrats on this one. Also, that the more attention that is called to the birth issue, the better for us and the worse for Obama.
Another method might be to propose an amendment. I can think of at least two that might have a good effect:
1. That Obama should not be honored in this way unless he produces proof of birth in Hawaii.
2. That the resolution should be amended to honor Hawaii as the 57th state, since that’s seems to be what Obama has said about it.
Does this thing seem to be heating up? It’s now everywhere on the ‘net. One can only hope.

Why not a plaque on the hospital..both of them.

I don’t think they read these posts, so it is safe to admit here that if Obama does 15 days straight of town hall meetings across the country the public will go nuts for his health care plan and force Republicans to vote for it. Biden can take care of foreign policy while Obama is away.
I think their constituents could forgive a congressman for skipping signing a ceremonial proclamation ....

In response the GOP should ammend the bill to place a plaque at the hospital where -10bama was born to commemorate the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States.
Of course they can only do this by releasing exactly which hospital he was born at ... which can only be obtained from his original long for birth certificate :)

Exactly! For all we know, Obama could have been born in Oklahoma! For any of them to say that Obama was born in Hawaii when they don’t have any first-hand knowledge is hearsay.
