I know FRs are going to disagree with me, but I will tell you that most typically, in my opinion based on experience of seeing it, police officers would have acted differently than Sgt Crowley.
Faced with an uncooperative, foul mouth abusive person, a good number of untrained or un controlled cops would have probably tazered Mr. Gates.
Crowley actually showed considerable self controll, in my humble opinion.
Well let’s recap the past week:
We find out what’s really in the Healthcare Bill..OMG!!
Prof Gates freaks out and plays racecard, when Policeman tries to do his job causing a huge distraction.
Pres Obama adds to this distraction by calling Cambridge PD “acting studpidly”.
Obam fires TOP SECRET SERVICE AGENT over a conversation about “too many compaints from Obama’s over demographics in US”..hmm..NO REPLACEMENT IS ANNOUNCED..the spot is vacant?
OH BY THE WAY..there is a CHINA DELEGATION AT WHITE HOUSE TODAY...and Obama says “We now have a whole new way of looking at the world in this new millenium” (Paraphrased)...say what?
They did it again, and distracted America from what is really going on? Don’t you get it yet??
A police sergeant who responded to a 911 call about a possible break-in at the home of black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr.
OK, so it’s Monday and I’m slow, but what qualifies this guy as a scholar? Is this like calling Al Sharpton a Reverend?
"And I love that the 911 report said that two big black men were trying to break in with backpacks on. Now that is the worst racial profiling Ive ever heard of in my life." -- Henry GatesThe lady making the 911 call says "two gentlemen," then when asked "Are they white, black or hispanic?" she answers: "two larger men, one looked kind of hispanic. " The dispatcher then relays "two men, unknown race, one may be hispanic..."
Where did Gates get his profiling info?
Bookmarked
That's it I think. The source of Gates charge of profiling by her.
“At a news conference Monday, Cambridge City Manager Robert Healy said a panel would convene to examine the incident and how to improve relations between the police and the community. He said the panel wouldn’t conduct an internal investigation of the incident, but would make broader suggestions about police procedure. However, he wouldn’t rule out disciplinary action resulting from the panel’s findings.”
The last sentence really bothers me. There certainly better not be any disciplinary action against Sgt. Crowley.
FYI, FRiend... audiotapes released...
Just because a cop says it doesn’t in a prima facie way make it so.
