Now we’re having to read THEIR bills and tell them how AWFUL they are.

We can actually save a lot of money if we just cut out the middle men. Fire all of DC, and then just let the lobbyist place their high bids for the corrupt laws they have written that they want passed. Then reward the highest bidding lobbyists by making their desires the law of the land. Now we have turned the normal money losing operation of DC into a money generating operation and the results will be exactly the same. /sarc

+++++++++++++++

I realize you had a </sarc> tag on your comments - but let’s actually take this idea and run with it...kick out all the current congress critters, and then the only way the idiot lobbyists bills pass is if they pass both the new Congress and the 60% vote of the American people - for any bill that affects over say $10 Billion or perhaps $100 Billion?? I dunno...it just seemed like, even in jest, it had potential..:)

Interesting. What I was trying to highlight with my sarcastic suggestion was that if our Congress Critters are not reading the bills, who is writing them ? Obviously, the lobbyist. So who needs congress critters.

I take it one of these days Mr. Conyers will be the subject of a dumb crook news story, like Cynthia McKinney was a few years back.

That's because Conyers is probably illiterate, being the stupid **** that he is....or, at the very least, if he reads in the same manner as he talks, the words are so sluggish they never reach that pitiful excuse for a brain....

“Conyers is a stupid as he is criminal.”

He perfectly reflects his constituents.

That happens nearly every time he gets coverage, it just hasn’t had any effect yet.

Term limits are such a profoundly poor idea. There’s no substitute for an informed and engaged electorate. Why would/should we give up our freedom to keep the good reps and vote out the losers? It’s OUR place to call the shots not theirs!

As for the rigged elections comment that too would be handled by an informed/engaged electorate.

No, I think the 2 term limit on pres is just as misguided. It takes away our freedoms to elect who we want.

What would I suggest? I thought I already mentioned that: voters need to become informed and vote. Pretty simple and easy. Barring that no law is going to correct an apathetic electorate. In fact term limits will only exacerbate the problem. It seems an excellent opportunity for The Cast to further rig elections. There’s nothing the pols fear more than a fired up, informed electorate.
