(UK)Swine flu: 100,000 infected in a week

Weekly cases of the H1N1 virus have almost doubled in a week and Justin McCracken, chief executive of the Health Protection Agency, said the number of GP consultations about flu are in line with epidemic levels.

An epidemic is officially declared when the number of GP consultations recorded by the Royal College of GP exceeds 200 per 100,000 population.

Last week the figure stood at 155 consultations per 100,000 population but another, larger, database which is more up to date has recorded 221.4 consultations per 100,000 population.

Mr McCracken said taking the two together suggested official epidemic levels had been reached or were close.

Apparently the Brits have set up a national hotline so one can call in and be screened for symptoms, then report to a sort of 'distribution center' to pick up a dose of Tamiflu, if approved. Calltakers go down a list of questions and the call-center computer diagnoses the symptoms. The impression is left with the reader that only if the computer spits out "call 999", is the caller to go to a doctor. Issuance of Tamiflu requires an 'authorization number' - a huge glitch with the computer system is that if the number is lost, or written down incorrectly, there is no way to recall it from the system - so, no tickie no Tamiflu. (shades of healthcare to come)

iMO, the amount of coverage and measures already instituted in England, warrants closer scrutiny and awareness from this side of the pond

My take. It is a coordinated effort among Nations/people who want socialized medicine implemented here. By cramming the Swine Flu story down our throats 7/24, fear is instilled in many, who then (the plan would be) will clamor for availability health care for all. Create a crisis and then present the solution.

This is not even a serious strain of flu and the deaths caused by it are minuscule. The CDC stats show the average number of deaths in this country each year due to flu is in the range of 36000. To date the number of persons who have died from HN1 (Swine Flu) WORLD WIDE is in the neighborhood of 800 So, 800 DEAD world wide from SF versus an average of 36,000 just in America who die EACH YEAR from everyday virus infections. Sounds to me like a deliberate plan to instill panic in order to get more people clamoring for health care availability (read FREE)so the libs can complete their takeover of 18% of the US economy.

The 100.000 figure was purely an estimate, was repeatedly said so by Lord Robertson, but is being banded about as fact by the MSM.
The figure originally came from GP enquiries about flu like symptoms, but as of this week, the Govt has officially hijacked the consultation, assessment, screening, diagnosing and prescribing for 'swine flu' away from GP's and instead using a call centre staffed with immigrant & unemployed workers employed under affirmative action processes using 'flow charts' to hand out Tamiflu to a 'neurotic public' being 'primed' by articles such as this one posted above, to get 'this weeks swine flu figures'.

I kid you not, The Swine Flu 'pandemic' here is the biggest non event, and is being completely fed by the media.
The above observations about how many articles repeating the same thing by this agency alone proves it, they're simply bumping the story for SEO purposes.

Most people are simply having a day off work with this flu, and people are realising this is a flu with a purpose, but the purpose is Political.

You’re right, there are only about 800 deaths in the 5 or so months swine flu has been actively identified. You may also be correct the virus scare may be a means to institute gubment health care (except England already has gubment health care).

Another possibility would be to consider that maybe England has become a study-group for how to psychologically coerce populations into accepting mandatory vaccines, rationed health care, and house arrest as “normal”. There’s been a lot of crazy control-type measures instituted in England lately, such as food police for instance, and of course we all know their population has already been disarmed. Could the virus scare be just another velvet glove operation?

OTOH, we may actually be looking at a runaway mutant zombie virus that Big Gubment knows (but will never tell) was accidentally released by Big Pharm or even intentionally released by jihaddist pharm, and that is why the WHO/UN/BigGubment are already taking extraordinary measures and preparing to spend billions of dollars - with only 800 deaths in 5 months. Glaxo-Smith recently stated they expect over $3B in vaccine sales. Gilead will also be swimming in money. Leaving a huge question - if there are only 800 deaths, why go to all the bother of manufacturing $3B in vaccines? But if we are looking at a mutant zombie virus, well, zombies tend to become very destructive pretty quickly, and that would justify spending $3B on a vaccine.

This particular virus is composed of four components normally not married together in nature. Patient Zero has been redesignated three times now. There are higher infection rates in Brunei, Canada, Australia and New Zealand than in Mexico where it supposedly originated. It’s developed species-jumping mutations (confirmed in Canada) and mutated defensive mechanisms (against Tamiflu). It’s spread to over 50 nations. Pretty fast progress for a “mild” virus supposedly 5 months old.

*This HN1 strain has already been described as a relatively mild strain whose contractors exhibit the normal fever, aches and pains*

I’m sure the pigs that contract the virus back from humans will be happy to hear that :) either way, it’s a death sentence for them at the moment.

LOL. Tin foil hats aside, oops viruses being released by Big Pharm has occurred - on more than one occasion (see cites below - especially the Toronto Sun article about Baxter’s bio-weapons facility).

I find your argument even scarier - that free governments worldwide conspired in smoky back rooms to stoop to the level of pretending to have a scare, maybe even down to inventing infection rates and projected death rates, in order to manipulate and control the behavior of populations and force them to accept healthcare or scary vaccines or freedom controls they otherwise wouldn’t accept.

Since the latter would inevidably result in worldwide chaos upon discovery of underhanded tactics such as you suggest, I’d rather believe we’ve got an ooops on our hands. Whether it was a lab-developed experimental virus, such as those Baxter ackowledges exist, or a natural freak occurance, or even whether it becomes a mutant zombie virus, well, we have to wait and see.

In the meantime all we can do is try to scrutinize the stories coming out (mainly out of England) for grains of truth, and increase our threat awareness accordingly.

A July 17th story in the TimesUK gives a worse-case scenario to expect 30% of the British population to become infected, with 65,000 deaths - an increase of around 20,000 deaths (around 80%) above the number of ‘regular’ flu-related deaths each year.
