YES, take the Obama birth certificate controversy out of this for a moment ...
Many native Hawaiians are as secessionist as Texans, Alaskans, some northern Idahoans -- which is WHY the Dept of Hawaiian Home Lands exists in the first place. They want to distinguish between natives and Haole (outsiders). Here's part of their reason why:
-- Hawaii is the traveling hub for the Pacific rim
-- The US military has had a presence there for more than 100 years and will continue.
-- People pass through, have babies and stay for a while -- the "Certification of Live Birth" only shows "City, Town or Location of Birth"
SO ... how will the state KNOW who is of native Hawaiian blood from those who are Haole 100 years in the FUTURE??
The state of Hawaii won't turn to the incomplete "Certification of Live Birth" (what Obama's shown the world) to determine "blood quantum" -- they will do an internal background check, working with the Hawaii Vital Statistics office. They'll want to see the ORIGINAL birth certificates, hospital records, etc, to CONFIRM the person's lineage.
The whole idea that CNN is floating now, that the state of Hawaii destroyed original birth certificates in 2001 when they created digital abstracts is a load of manure!
Why else would the DHHL specifically ask for applicants to provide the "Certificate of Live Birth" over the "Certification of Live Birth" for the last eight years??!
If you turn in a "Certification of Live Birth" -- rest assured -- they're NOT going to accept it on face value -- they will verify it internally against the ORIGINAL birth certificate that the state of Hawaii has archived!
