You must be really close. I found Jupiter Rd. on google map, but not Jupiter Drive. We are (as the crow flies) considered Cedar Ridge.
I can only find Jupiter Rd. Are they evacuating there?
The fire is on the other side of the middle fork canyon near Mt. Knight. Looks to be about 8 miles from our place, and about 15 miles from Twain Harte as the crow flies.
Looks like two ridges away from you.
We’ll keep watch. We can see the smoke really clearly from our house. If it gets where we can see flame, I’ll try to post a picture (can you post pics on Free Republic?) I am headed outside to look again, but when I came in earlier, it was just smoke we saw. We might ride the quads over to the fire tower tomorrow - I think we can see it from there. It isn’t far from our house.
Wildfire season is here.
There is no Jupiter Road.
Is it blowing toward you? 8 miles isn’t very far.
Google maps probably have it wrong. It shows Jupiter Rd. going off of Italian Bar Road. I think I have the place mapped out. I sure hope they get a handle on it quickly.
Hope for no wind tonight, because the aircraft can’t fly at night. There won’t be an air attack again until tomorrow morning.
Well, I think we are all pretty close to each other. I’ll check back in. Thanks for the link to the web cam That is quite the picture.
Well, there are two rivers between it and me, the Stanislaus and the Mokelumne. I hope everyone over there is ok.
A river won’t stop it if it is crowining and spotting.
Thank you for the advice, however, I have lived in CA since 1946(I was 4 years old at the time)and lived most of my life in Amador county so I do have an inkling of what forest fires will do. I am in the low country and we aren't too worried about crowning due to the fact most of the trees are oaks, but fires can, and do, jump rivers in several different ways, such as the wind etc. plus these northern CA rivers aren't very wide either. I do think that crossing both the Mokelumne and Stanislaus is highly improbable, but you never know. If it does there will be many, many people getting the he** out of Dodge.
Uh, no. Pot farms are going to balance the budgets in all CA towns and at the State level. It’s coming soon.
Jupiter Drive cuts across the most northerly loop of Italian Bar road, about 1 mile southerly of its most northerly point (overlooking Knight Creek), which is where the road to Mt. Knight cuts off from Italian Bar.
Our property is both sides of the westerly end of Jupiter Drive. Eagle Creek is below us.
If you’re on Middle Camp then you’re way more than 4 miles from the fire. There are three major ridges between you and the Middle Fork gorge: Contention, Grant, and Star.
Here is a link I just got in an email from Sandy Taylor who lives between Grant Ridge and Star Ridge, just above Rose Creek, on Mountain Placer Road:

Obey the posting rules if you go there! (no questions allowed)
Well, I think we don’t live very far from each other. I found approximately where you live on the google map terrain view. We are kind of triangulated between old oak ranch road the main tuolumne ditch and five mile creek. (Sorry, they just don’t have us on the google map and I am kind of glad! We ride quads all over down that way, but usually we go more toward cedar ridge and the stanislas river (I think) The smoke is terrible this morning, isn’t it.
Thanks, by the way, for all the information. I was able to do a terrain map with your information and find us and the fire and print it up. I got a great pic of the ORANGE sunrise. It was amazing.
Thank you for the link. Pretty smokey this morning.
Are you near Rosey ridge Ct.?
