Some Muslims have refused to use alcohol-based hand gels to combat the spread of swine flu because they claim it is against their religion.
Some of those employed by St Albans Council in Hertfordshire have complained about the antibacterial lotion, which is considered a key strategy in containing the virus.

Some Muslims have refused to use alcohol-based hand gelsThen they should also refuse any first-aid disinfectants, right?

Great. Somebody dump a few kegs of beer in London’s water supply and let the whole city know it’s contaminated!

This is idiotic. Do they not understand the difference between consuming alcohol and using it for medicinal/cleansing purposes?

then they can suffer the virus.... The problem is they're putting others at risk because of their stupid misunderstanding of their own religion.

Someone should tell them any product that contains sugar will have some alcohol in it. As do all leavened breads and grains.

This is not a new story, I have been reading about this phenomenom for at least a year --- probably longer. There was also a news item a year or so ago about female Muslim doctors(surgeons), who refuse to wear short sleeves and "scrub" completely because of their religion, insisting that they be allowed to wear their long sleeved garments in the surgery.
So, when we hear about the epidemic of serious infections in all of the British public hospitals (and I believe maggots in one of them), you can think about the lack of sanitation being used in these hospitals in the name of political correctness.

Potential Darwin Award nominees?Well, if they were the only ones being affected, yes; but, they are not. Death by political correctness.

This is idiotic. Do they not understand the difference between consuming alcohol and using it for medicinal/cleansing purposes? This is the rant my hubby always has whenever he hears about this idiocy.

This is idiotic. Do they not understand the difference between consuming alcohol and using it for medicinal/cleansing purposes? The ones that created this controversy know full well the difference between consuming alcohol and putting it on one's hands. The useful idiots among them may not...
But what they ALL understand is that they they can use this to destroy the British culture and civilization... and the British are more than happy to help them do it.
