FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin steps down Sunday giving few clues about her political future, which has been clouded by ethics probes, mounting legal bills and dwindling popularity.
A few things are known: She is scheduled to speak Aug. 8 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, and has said she plans to write a book, campaign for political candidates from coast to coast and build a right-of-center coalition.

Yeah I have the Fox News feed up on my computer too, no sound. I guess cause there is nothing going on, there is really no reason to have sound. Can you believe that CNN has an actual countdown to her speech..I had no idea politically dead people have countdown clocks..I wish I had one LOL
Didn't read another word....
Anyone putting up a live thread?? My DSL is jamming. I don’t know whether its the modem going or if the local office server is overloaded. Behavior is it works for a few minutes then quits for 3-5 minutes.
‘Dwindling popularity’ is a definite tip off.
The Fox News stream just died on me, just see a bunch of different colored boxes now. Yeah would like to know if there will be a live thread on her speech
I am with you. It won’t be popular around here but this will be spun as a quitter. if she stayed and countersued the accusers she could prove some serious political mettle for 2012. Isn’t there a senate race coming up though?
We have explained to you succinctly why she stepped down, but apparently it's still not registering upstairs.
We don't know if she's going to run for President anyway, but even if she does, she has already accomplished more in 2.5 years than most Governors do in full terms. And Palin has 17 years of elective and appointed experience in office. If she was good enough to be picked for VP she's good enough for the top spot.
If she would have stayed the full term, she wouldn't have gotten nothing done and the media would've pointed that out.
Who cares what the Left thinks of her anyway? They're not going to support her even if she served 2 full terms.
It's registering fine upstairs. What you seem to have a hard time understanding is that no child of a politician will be safe from tawdry display now that the left has won. This is going to hurt in the long run. She will be taken as an easier target and now has a reputation for quitting.
