If he produced the sort of birth certificate you are requesting, would that settle the issue for you?
Actually I've never really cared to see any candidate's birth certificate until now, because it wasn't an issue. It wasn't really an issue with me in Obama's case either, until I began to notice the lengths he was going to not to show it.
I'm not sure what it is that he's hiding, it may be personally embarrassing rather than legally embarrassing. But he seems to be sensitive about something on his birth certificate. To put this to rest I'd like him to release it and put this aside.
Look, if its something personal, he needs to get over it. The people involved are all dead and can't be embarrassed anymore. He's president of the United States so he has clearly overcome whatever it is in his past he's embarrassed of. If its a legal issue, though, we have a right to know.
And, in a related issue, I'd like to know what citizenship he claimed when he was in college.
That, I think, should put this to rest. Certainly it will for me.
Will that transform me into an Obama supporter? No, of course not. My problems with him are on several levels, primarily ideological, but also in reference to his character and experience.
But certainly this issue will be put away, I assume, if he'll produce the document and answer what citizenship he claimed when he was college age.
If I'm right, and he claimed foreign citizenship at that time, he probably won't be immediately removed from office because his party controls congress. Its not even clear what the legal ramifications would be. But we have a right, I think, to know. Certainly we have the right to demand an answer. He can refuse to answer, but he'll have to keep refusing to answer and that in itself speaks volumes.
