A pharmacist charged with murder told police he had killed before, while overseas in the first Gulf War. But according to his military records, he was never there.
Instead, Jerome Jay Ers-land spent the war in 1991 as the pharmacy chief at the military hospital at Altus Air Force Base in southwestern Oklahoma, records show.
Ersland fatally shot a robber May 19 at the Reliable Discount Pharmacy in Oklahoma City.
The shooting attracted national attention when prosecutors charged him with first-degree murder, alleging he went too far while defending himself. Military veterans rallied to his support after he described himself as an Army veteran injured during Operation Desert Storm. He told The Oklahoman in May he hurt his back during a mortar attack.
I had no concerns, just a question for you...Remember?
As your fellow juror I ask you:
>>>If you cant see the suspect during the second shoot on the video, how can anyone tell positively he was not attempting to get up, or possibly made a sudden hand move that the robbery victim deemed a real threat?<<<

Speaking of children, your refusal to address the question, indicates your level of immaturity is very high.
Like I said, I get paid to ask tough questions of people that like you, flat out refuse to answer or address.
When that occurs, their credibility is reduced to zip, and I know I have done my job well!
Thanks!
Well, then, you should have also learned that your questions aren’t my concern, as a kid growing up... (a corollary...)
I find that very odd.
Then, instead of just going away quietly, you continue to respond with juvenile quips, and continue to refuse to answer honest legitimate questions, in an honest, straightforward manner.
Its seems you are not what you seem to profess.
And if I was interested, I would have pinged... :-)
His fantasies must have been very strong for him to think that his Walter Mitty world would not come unglued with the media, the scrutiny and the video, he thought that he would just add another fake hero story to his routine. Those first couple of days of interviews with his bandaged bullet wound must have been heady days for him judging by the flamboyant stories he was telling the media.
I have no strange relationship to this story at all other than trying to figure out why two pointy-heads are dragging this guy through the sewer. You have your opinion and have convicted and hung him out to dry. I've tried to put myself into his shoes and figure out what I would have done differently.
Personally I find it hard to believe such as you do that he has faked his service all these years so he could play the disabled hero to thwarting an armed robbery. You and Traveller have a crystal ball, x-ray vision and a psychic. Obviously I'm not prepared to debate you till I get my Superman cape back from the cleaners.
Until then, "Beam me up, Scotty". There is no intelligent life down here.
Read my posts again especially 13, I’m not dragging him anywhere, I said the guy is a fascinating fruitcake and I meant it. The pharmacist is a grade A, full on, nut case.
ALMOST EVERYTHING THE GUY SAYS BELOW ARE LIES. The robbers had one gun and never fired a shot, he was never in the war, etc, etc.
Here are some of his earlier claims, people forget that he claimed to have been wounded in a desperate shootout and was wearing a bandage over the wound until the police made clear that he was the only one that had fired a gun. When you watch the video you realize that the guy is totally fantasizing and making it up up and lying.
Throw these claims in with his phony war hero stuff and you have a real nutcase.
>The robbers began shooting at him, with one bullet grazing him on the arm, he said he heard another round whiz past his ear.
Ersland recalled: All of a sudden, they started shooting. They were attempting to kill me, but they didnt know I had a gun. They said, Youre gonna die. Thats when one of them shot at me, and thats when he got my hand.
Ersland grabbed the semi-automatic Kel-Tec .380 in his pocket.
And thats when I started defending myself, he said. The first shot got him in the head, and that slowed him down so I could get my other gun.
Ersland also kept a much larger pistol in a nearby drawer, which he was able to retrieve, a Taurus Judge revolver. At that point, the second robber took off. However, the other robber was now getting up off of the floor, despite the head wound.
Ersland emptied his clip into the chest of the wounded robber, who turned out to be 16-year-old Antwun Parker.
I went after the other guy, but he was real fast and Im crippled, said Ersland. Once outside, he saw a third black male sitting in a car with what appeared to be a shotgun.
Ersland said: I pulled out my Judge and pointed it right between his eyes and he floored it.

Ersland said he was thrown against a wall, but managed to go for the semiautomatic in his pocket.

But as one robber hit the floor, Ersland said, a bullet from the other robber whizzed past his ear.
The pharmacist said he then got his second gun from a nearby drawer, a Taurus Judge.
After he had the big gun, Ersland said, the second robber ran.
But as he started to chase after the second robber, Ersland said, he looked back to see the 16-year-old he had shot in the head getting up again. Ersland said he then emptied the Kel-Tec .380 into the boys chest as he kept going after the second robber.

Outside the pharmacy, he said he saw what he thought was a third black male in a car with the engine running and reaching for what appeared to be a shotgun.
I pulled out my Judge and pointed it right between his eyes and he floored it, Ersland said.
>>Ive heard other FReepers say that if you shoot a guy like that, you need to go over to the guy when hes down and out and make sure hes not breathing any more and pump a few more rounds into him before you call the police, so the guy cant say anything about what happened..
Really? Link to that?
What I typically see is FReepers saying you need to shoot to stop the threat.
Nicely done.
Shooting for self-defense is allowed and although some others (elsewhere) might not like that idea, it’s something that we all have the right to do.
What I’m talking about is on the threads that deal with shootings like this and then the discussion goes off into the perp suing someone (either he’s paralyzed or can’t work anymore or something happened to him physically or even nothing happened) and then he gets a lawyer and there’s a court case and the person who defends himself (at home) has to spend money and time doing it and sometimes he loses and the perp ends up with a few hundred thousand or a million or two (or at the very least, they try and they get their lawyers to try).
Thus, that’s where you get people who say, “You should have made sure he was dead first, because they can’t talk after they’re dead.” Or something like “If I shoot someone like that in my home, I’m going to make sure he’s dead first before I even call the police.” And I have even seen a few where some say, “If the guy is wounded and bleeding badly, I’m going to leave him there for a while, go get a drink, sit down and rest for a while. After I make sure I’m calmed down enough, the guy ought to be dead by then, and then I’ll call the police.” And of course, the most common seems to be “If you shoot him and he’s down, go over and make sure he’s dead by putting a few more rounds in him. Dead men don’t talk.”
NOW..., anyone who has been on any of these threads where shooting, self-defense, and also getting sued and/or the perp disputing what you say — when the conversation gets going in that thread, especially those long ones where everyone gets excited in the thread, you’re going to find these being posted.
If you don’t know that, you haven’t been on those threads...
Link to those threads?
What I see mostly, is as I described.
Anyone who has been on the threads has seen them, If you haven’t seen it, just camp out on those threads, and sit and wait a while. It will come up. It comes up on threads where everyone is getting excited about the topic, too... LOL...
It doesn’t make any difference to me, because I’m not going to do that, however there are others who are going to do that.
It's was the only thing that came to mind while attempting to communicate and reason with that individual. Turns out I'd have better luck trying to reason with a chimp.
