LANSING The Michigan Democratic Party today announced ballot questions it will be considering placing on the November 2010 general election ballot. They include:
* Mandating all employers to provide affordable health care for their employees and dependents or pay a penalty.
* Raising the minimum wage from $7.40/hour to $10/hour and covering all workers with no exceptions.
* Increasing unemployment benefits by $100/week, making all workers eligible and adding six months to the time one can receive benefits.
* Cutting utility rates by 20%.
* Imposing a one-year moratorium on home foreclosures.
People of Michigan should be asking their government and their elected officials: Whose side are you on? said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer. While the greedy corporate CEOs of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Regional Chamber, and Detroit Renaissance are worried only about their selfish interests, the Michigan Democratic Party is focused on helping all the people of Michigan get through these tough economic times.
The corporate special interests are using these tough times to advance the same tired old agenda cut jobs, wages, and benefits; reduce services; and shift taxes onto the middle class and the poor, observed Brewer. These proposals put people first and will help millions of Michigan citizens.
The MDP will be conducting an online survey of Democratic activists on these ballot questions as it decides which of these proposals to put on the ballot next year. Polling company Denno Noor, LLC will be conducting the poll.
I think North Korea might be more business friendly than Michigan at this point.
Ballot proposals are a means of covering their own butts when reality sets in.
There, fixed it, just like a Michigan election.
Bet on 50% unemployment at least.
The last productive person out of Michigan, please turn out the lights. This will obviously turn Detroit around and make it a people’s paradise! /s
The only problem we will have is the expense to build a wall around Michigan once only the leeches are left - but at least it will create jobs!
Michigan RATS seem to want to hasten the onset of rigor mortis in that state’s already deceased economy. But hey...that’s what RATS do.
,”The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”, - Alexis de Tocqueville (in “Democracy in America”)
I guess the dim idiots want to totally eviscerate the Michigan economy for decades to come.
LOL!!! Facing 15% unemployment, there they go again. Yet, the MiDems know enough people in the state will blindly vote for them, without regard to economic reality. MI, like CA, is committing economic suicide.
All I can do is roll around on the floor laughing my butt off.
You GO! Dems. And since you’re on a winning roll, why not make that a $15/hour minimum wage. Every one in Michigan can be rich.
It probably won’t sink until Ford or one of the Zomby Motors packs up and moves out. In the meantime, the magic money tree in DC will continue to fund the lifestyle, and that’s all that matters.
But I see all the commercials with Jeff Daniels telling me that Michigan is a great place to do business. In fact, he has his Purple Rose Theatre there. Then again, he may also have a Purple Rose Theatre in Pyongyang as well. Kim Jong Il is a well known to be a Hollywood aficiando. /sarc
If the GOP manages to turn up any decent candidates you may see some vast changes in Michigan government. Just from looking at comments in local papers shows that there is some roiling anger I haven’t seen for a long time.
Personally I think the democrats are doing as much damage as possible before being thrown out. Kind of like a welfare bum vandalizing the appartment he’s being evicted from.
and how will they for this when all of the businesses have left the state?
As the owner of real estate in Northern Indiana, I hope each and every one of these proposals is adopted.
LOL! I sure hope it’s zoned commercial! Good luck to you!
This press release doesn’t mention paying for this stuff
