Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he is ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying "in the end, this is not about me at all."

When you undermine cops’ authority you endanger them. They become less likely to come to the aid of those that despise them and want to attack them. Therefore, more people will die or get hurt as a result, and that goes double for black kids.
I so hope the tape gets “leaked” to YouTube.

An Englishman is being shown around a Scottish hospital. At the end of the tour he is shown into a ward with a number of patients who show no signs of injury.
He goes to examine the first man he sees, and the man proclaims

I haven’t done much digging but was surprised at this phrasing about his PhD in Wikipedia. which mentions that “he worked toward his Ph.D.” but not that he received one:
University of Cambridge, where he studied English literature at Clare College. With the assistance of a Ford Foundation Fellowship, he worked toward his Ph.D. in English. While his work in history at Yale had trained him in archival work, Gates’ studies at Clare introduced him to English literature and literary theory.
