Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he is ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying "in the end, this is not about me at all."

Put me on that jury.
First, the neighbor calls in saying that two black men were ramming the door with their shoulders to get in, presumably because it was locked.
Second, Gates says that it was he and his chauffer, because he had forgotten his keys (presumably the door was locked).
Finally, he tells Crowley that the door cannot be secured because of a previous break-in attempt.
If a previous break-in attempt prevented the police from securing his home, then why was he trying to break the door in because of forgotten keys? The door, presumably, was not securable because of a prior break-in attempt.

Veddy interesting story you found...
Oh yeah, this is a teaching moment alright— a lesson to be learned by all the BLACK people who have a bad attitude towards white people and to the police, INCLUDING racist perfessor and the Fraud in the WH. Here’s the lesson:
STFU
From Gates' above words, it seems to me that Gates is still blaming the cop for racial profiling.
I cannot 'figure' here, either. Moreso; that this seems not to have been highlighted in discussions and analysis as well. This from Officer Crowley's 'Incident Report' #90051267
[I ordered Off. Ivey, who was among the responding officers, to handcuff Gates with his arms in front of him for his comfort while I secured a cane for Gates from within the residence. I then asked Gates if he would like an officer to take possession of his house key and secure his front door, which he left wide open. Gates told me that the door was un securable due to a previous break attempt at the residence.
Shortly thereafter, a Harvard University maintenance person arrived on scene and appeared familiar with Gates. I asked Gates if he was comfortable with this Harvard University maintenance person securing his residence. He told me that he was.
F this POS.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t he the one who opened this can of worms?
Your typical liberal... He makes a fuss, then when it backfires, he says, “Time to move on.”
This guy saw the white cop walking his way, and said to his limo driver “Now watch the master and learn, Jeevs.”
Yes, yes, it’s time to “move on.” After “recalibrating” our words, everything’s fine now. In fact, this is a “teachable” moment — if it helps America learn more about avoiding this type of “racial profiling,” then that’s all the better. Let’s all gather ‘round now and have a beer together; that gesture should make it all OK. Nothing more to see here, folks, and if you don’t believe me, then you don’t know who you’re dealing with, cracker.
Agree; but better have a good story. . .or your life could be made 'difficult'. . .might anyway!/sigh. . .Am still hoping that Sargent Crowley decides that he woulda/coulda but 'cannot'.
Am sure Sotomayor feels the same way. The Left does have a different way of interpreting such; but we know of course; there is nothing 'equal' about it. We have just seen how that works with Obama's choice for SC.
Clearly, racial profiling works; when used by any Leftist/Marxist/communist, reason-challenged, rabble-rousing addicted, ideologue. And most critically; to this debate; we know it's not about 'race'; and not about 'social Justice'; just as it is not about health care. . .and whatever other face they put over their agenda.
Well, for sure; it would be 'two' against one. And not fun at all; hope the Sargent stays home! Amazing; am sure Obama will count this as a 'winning political strategic maneuver and a step forward for all of America's 'race obsessed'.
(Today; Gates and Crowley. . .tomorrow; Netanyahu and Ahmadinejad. . .yes, Obama. YES!)
They were both whitey, weren't they? So no difference.
Is it possible to get a copy released by filing a FOIA request?
Yup.
Deeply rooted racism in this fellow.The Taiwan Times version of the story contained this interesting bit:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To his eventual embarrassment, he wrote in his Yale application:
"As always, whitey now sits in judgment of me, preparing to cast my fate. It is your decision either to let me blow with the wind as a nonentity or to encourage the development of self. Allow me to prove myself."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That crucial bit of data was edited out of the Charlotte Observer. I wonder why. It certainly seems relevant background information to me. It says a lot about the man that he disparaged "whitey" on his Yale application
A racist through and through, who tried to play the victim questioning to the cop that he was treating him differently because he was black.
What happened is this racist FOO (Friend Of Obama) treated the cop differently because the cop was a "whitey."
Rahm is steaming!!!
Oh so true. I pray they are released and if not. leaked. This racist can't be allowed to have his cake and eat it too.
It is great he did get involved. Let’s the real him out to be seen by everyone.
“Oh, well. 16th century English playwright, 18th century Scottish poet: What’s the diff?” There is no difference to gates, to him it’s just two old dead white guys; so he can use the material.
