Romney is not my first, second, or third choice, but he could win.

I disagree. If he is the nominee, the conservative base will, once again, vote with their butts (as in, not getting off them to go vote)

I contend that it was trying to get a candidate that "could win" that gave us McCain, and subsequently, Obama.

There has never been anything to show that, instead his 16 year political record shows that he isn't a winning or popular or likable politician.

His one win was in the 2002 governor race when he became the fourth in a row republican governor for Massachusetts, unfortantly he left with failed polling numbers and turned the state over to democrats.

The 2008 primary should have been a win for Romney based on all the factors aside from him, he had all the money, the organization, everything, but he is a weak, unlikable candidate and he can't overcome that, even now his polling is flat against a woman that hasn't had a positive word said about her in the media since the first day of her national appearance less than 11 months ago.
