The Gaza zookeepers get an A for effort. Much like the Kabul zookeeper who amazingly managed to keep Marjan the lion alive and fairly decently fed through a series of wars (including having a grenade lobbed at him by Russian soldiers, taking out his eye), and enabled Marjan to give cheer and hope to many thousands of Afghans, before dying with dignity in his sleep of old age.
