House healthcare negotiations dissolved in acrimony on Friday, with Blue Dog Democrats saying they were lied to by their Democratic leaders.
The seven Blue Dogs on the Energy and Commerce Committee stormed out of a Friday meeting with their committee chairman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), saying Waxman had been negotiating in bad faith over a number of provisions Blue Dogs demanded be changed in the stalled healthcare bill.
Ive been lied to, Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chairman Charlie Melancon (D-La.) said on Friday. We have not had legitimate negotiations.
Mr. Waxman has decided to sever discussions with the Blue Dogs who are trying to make this bill work for America, Melancon said...

"Waxman simply does not have votes in committee and process should not be bypassed to bring the bill straight to floor, Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), the lead Blue Dog negotiator, said on Friday. We are trying to save this bill and trying to save this party.
Melancon said there would be 40-45 solid no votes from the 52-strong Blue Dogs, among other problems throughout the caucus.

MOLON LABE
If I recall correctly, Gergen saved Clinton’s presidency in the first year when the wheels were falling off. If he’d stayed away, there would have been no 2d term.
Rodham-Gergen got the credit, but Dick Morris’s triangulation strategy was what got Clinton back in the game.
REALISM is not the same thing as cynicism.

Can anyone on this blog confirm or deny the rumor that the House and Senate health care bills would exempt members of Congress and their staffs from the bills’ provisions? And,if so, can someone point me to the bills’ precise provisions to that effect? Thanks
BREAKING NEWS: Obama government providing the pine boxes, shovels, needles, sanctified (maybe?) ground... As an American, your extremely high tax will pay for (a small tax incentive...or stimulus if you prefer) the burial...and our own children/relatives get to bury us themselves!!! We’ll just leave our dead on the side of the road and let the vultures pick us apart!!! Or toss us in mass graves and cover us with lime as if we’ve got the plague. Why not? Or better yet, this is a great opportunity to use our body parts for God only knows what! Way to go America! You voted him in—get him out!!! Now!!!!!!!!!!
