Peter Hermann did a second piece after I sent him an email - http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/blog/2009/07/an_apology_for_a_bad_arrest_in.html

"If I have any official comment, it's that I'm terribly disappointed that the State is not prosecuting these detectives for their multiple instances of misconduct and perjury, and for their beliefs, as demonstrated by their actions, that they think that they are above the laws that the rest of us are bound to. Instead they are loose in our society, to rain their misconduct upon other unsuspecting citizens. Plus they serve as an example to others of like disposition, that they can get away with these crimes." - GFS

That evening I was interviewed on WJZ-TV by the lovely Kelly McPhearson - http://wjz.com/local/bwi.apology.2.1097899.html

"There's a difference between an honest mistake, which happens sometimes with the police, as opposed to a malicious prosecution." - GFS

... And as our own investigation just yesterday evening has revealed, the state has breached and still refuses to honor terms of the settlement that were set forth months ago.

The FBI found no evidence that the e-mail had been sent from Spicka's home computer and in fact had come from e-mail linked to a computer 20 miles south of the Vatican, in Italy, and not from the suspect's house in Gwynn Oak.

Police at the time had linked Spicka's computer to the e-mail from the similarities between the two Internet signatures - his was "georgetheother" and the threatening e-mail came from "George Orwell" - according to court documents. Police also said that the threat came from a computer at Spicka's house that had been used to post strong opinions on Maryland politics and the governor.

Congratulations and thank you for standing up to an abusive government. The authorities were well aware that you were a Freeper. I wonder if that played a part in how hard they came down on an innocent man.

Kudos to you FRiend, for standing your ground and refusing to knuckle under to those fascist pinheads in the Peoples Republic of Maryland.

I grew up in that godforsaken hell hole, and one of the most heartwarming sights was seeing Montgomery County in my rear view mirror many years ago, I’ve been back exactly one time in over 20 years, and didn’t even stay the night.

It’s my understanding that leftists, America-haters and their associated liberal scumbags in San Francisco have contingency plans to fly to Maryland as homeless immigrants should the ‘Big One’ (earthquake) ever strike California sending the City by the Gay into the sea.

My advice George? GTF outta there, if God decides to give Maryland an enema, He’ll put in the nozzle right there in Baltimore.

Good for you for makin’ ‘em pay.

Asked whether she has ever drafted such a statement, or seen one, the spokeswoman said: "To my knowledge, no, but this is part of the settlement agreement."

Can't even admit to apologizing. What unbelievable arrogance.

The scariest thing is, a few corrupt FBI agents, and you would have been totally screwed. Thank God they did their duty.

Hey George!

Glad that you’ve gotten some form of an apology on record. Arrogant SOBs...all of them.

What folks don’t remember is the way you were arrested, threatening to shoot your dog... purposely ‘losing’ your cell phone...confiscation of fireams...and also, the way they ‘released’ you in the dead of night dressed in your bedroom slippers and no money.

It’s a damned shame you could only squeeze $200K from the bastards. I should have been $200 Million.
