The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 30% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8 (see trends).
Just 25% believe that the economic stimulus package has helped the economy.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern
Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Today marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of Democrats continue to approve of the Presidents performance while 80% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 37% offer a positive assessment. The President earns approval from 51% of women and 47% of men.
These updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Most of the interviews for todays update were completed before the Presidents nationally televised press conference on Wednesday night. The first update based entirely upon interviews conducted after the press conference will be released on Sunday.
It is important to remember that the Rasmussen Reports job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters. Some other firms base their approval ratings on samples of all adults. President Obamas numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters. Thats because some of the Presidents most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote.
California Senator Barbara Boxer is clinging to a four-point lead in her bid for re-election.
Never forget this when you see the faux numbers from Gallup.
Out of all the missteps and harming of our country through policy the potentially fatal step was saying the Cambridge policeman acted “stupidly” after admitting he did not know all the facts. It was at that moment the majority of Americans saw this guy for who he really is.
His ship is sinking...
I see Obama going on national TV and does a Mea Culpa saying he was only trying to do what he felt was best for America but his message never got through to us (through no fault of his of course).
He will then talk about moderating his proposals and tell America he will work harder at getting his message; then he turn around and do exactly as he has been but he will have bought himself an uptick in the polls.

This hidden camera photo, taken by an anonymous source under extremely secretive precautions, captures President Obama and advisor David Axelrod as they react to recent polling trends.
Scary.
That would result in a quick major down tick when more and more Americans realize that this guy is nothing but a racist anti-American alien snake oil salesman
I suspect the reason for this is because of aggressive voter registration drives by the democrats. Many more people are registered to vote, than are actually willing to take the time to vote. Another factor is that in many states felons are not allowed to vote, polls of Adults would include such felons, which would disproportionately favor democrats in any such poll because blacks represent a disproportionately large percentage of felons.
Interesting - most of the interviews conducted before Wednesday’s presser. One wonders what the figures will look like on Sunday - the first day with only interviews conducted after the press conference.
Hee-Hee
Guess people didn't like his "Press Conference" Wednesday.
Wait till you see the numbers Sunday morning when the full effect of his health care speech hits.
NIce to see the negatives in RED for greater emphasis - well done!!!!
