Of course not. He was calling him a racist because he responded to a crime call of a house being broken by two black guys. The house happened to be owned by a black man. So instead of getting praise for doing his duty, he was insulted.
Maybe on second thought the cop was stupid, he should have walked away since it was a black on black crime.
But on third thought, if the police didn't respond, they would have been accused of racism. So it's racism if you do and racism if you don't. I love it when a plan comes togther.

If you mean Gates, he wasn't the owner of the house. He's the tenant of a house rented by the University. That, in itself, would have contributed a little bit of difficulty to the problem of trying to figure out who this guy is and does he really belong here. They had the University cops come over to sort it out.
