NEWARK, N.J. - The mayors of two New Jersey cities, a state legislator and several rabbis were arrested Thursday in connection with a major corruption and international money-laundering conspiracy probe. Some of the suspects were also allegedly involved in an illegal human organ-selling ring.

Among about 30 people arrested Thursday were Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano III, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini, former Jersey City Council President L. Harvey Smith and state Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt.

Van Pelt is accused of accepting $10,000 from a government witness posing as a developer seeking permit help. Story continues below ↓advertisement | your ad here

Smith, a former state assemblyman and Jersey City mayoral candidate who served four years as the city's council president, and several other current and former Jersey City public officials also are accused of accepting money to help the fake developer gain permits and approvals.

The story is about local-government corruption in New York and New Jersey, yet the word "Democrat" isn't mentioned once in the 20+ paragraph story. How convenient.

News person says it's a “sad day for the people of NJ.”

I think it would be a day of celebration with all the crooks arrested.

Here is the way it originally went up on Philly.com, since then fixed with the words Democrat attached. I think they got mad that I mentioned it in the comments there:

By Inquirer Staff

The FBI this morning arrested 30 people, including the mayors of Hoboken and Secaucus, and a New Jersey state assemblyman, in a two-track corruption and international money laundering investigation.

Also arrested were several rabbis in New York and New Jersey, officials said.

The Asbury Park Press quoted unidentified sources as saying the investigation included trafficking in body parts, but did not indicate if that aspect of the case involved any of the politicians.

Public officials arrested include Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano III, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt (R-Ocean) and Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark said. The money laundering probe involves a Yeshiva in Deal, in Monmouth County, the Press said.

Federal officials have scheduled a news conference for early this afternoon in Newark to discuss the investigations.

End……

"Here is the way it originally went up on Philly.com"

They omit all the (D)'s, but include the one Republican who got pinched? I hope someone took a screen-capture of that.

The media doesn't even pretend to be unbiased anymore.

Good grief. It never ends. There is no such thing as unbiased media. And it’s getting worse.

The reason for lack of party affiliation is most positions not state level.

But I can assure you, these people are almost all Democrats.
In Hoboken, we fought against the machine. Had the election against Peter (S)cammarano won on the machine count.

Lost on the absentee ballots. And I can assure you it was dirty.

The NJ Machine was aligned in New Jersey for Peter Cammarano. We were fighting an 8 or 9-1 money advantage.

He lost on the machine count by 200 ballots. Yet managed to win on absentee ballots.

Scammarano is going down. And we are so happy here.

Read any basic journalism book. You report only the things that are out of the ordinary. Common knowledge is not reported. With that in mind it is unusual for a republican to be involved in corruption, but is usual MO for members of the Democrat party.,therefore, party affiliation is common knowledge and doesn't need to be reported.

Interesting. Last week’s TIME had a long kiss-up article about Newark’s black RAT mayor. I suppose he’s safe because of his skin color.
