In 1961 the requirement was ten years with five after the 14th birthday. Stanley Ann was only 18 when BHO was allegedly born. Thus she had not lived in the US for 5 years after her 14th birthday.

In actuallity, he need not have even been in Hawai`i for the birth certificate to be requested/filed for. His grandmother could have done it. They did have phones, and a cable to Hawai'i in 1961. In fact they had lines to Hawai'i in 1941, at least telegraph lines, the "war warning from the Chief of Staff of the Army , General Marshall, to the Commanding General, General Short, in Hawai`i, went commercial telegram, as the shortwave to Hawai'i was "out". It arrived at Fort Shaftner as the attack was under way.
Probably just as wrong too. Nyang'oma Kogelo is where "Grandma Sarah" lives. It's a long ways from the Coast Hospital in Mombasa, clear accross Kenya, parrellel to the border with Tanzania, over 300 miles, and across the small "Kenyan" branch of Lake Victoria. Not that I think The One Bringer of Health Care was born there either, but it's possible.

He was a state Senator in Illinois. He was not elected to the US Senate until 2004, taking office in January of 2005. He still had two years left on his first term in the US Senate. I don't know if "state senator" in Illinois is a full time gig or not. I suspect it pretty much is. Still you'd think his grandma would have mentioned that he was a state senator, rather than describing him as a "social worker", which of course he never was. "Community Activist" is not the same as "social worker", although hard telling what he told his grandma.

While it's not totatly impossible that Stanley Ann would travel to Seattle, from wherever, in the month following the birth of her first child, where both University of Washington records and the recollections of a friend, place her in late August of '61 in the latter case and mid to late September in the other, it seems unlikely. Unless "wherever" was very close to Seattle, that is not requiring a long plane ride or boat trip. Now there woudl be no reason to "fake" being born in Seattle, or anywhere else in Washington state. But Vancouver BC is "close", and it might be worthwhile faking birth in Hawai'i to disguise birth in Canada, just to have the child recorded as a US Citizen.
Or the information they were based on, provided to the state vital records department, which need not have been provided through any hospital, was fake. If the usual address of the mother was fake, why not the place and/or date of birth as well?
You are assuming the August 4th date is correct. It may not be. He may have been born weeks earlier, and never lived in Hawaii until mid to late 1962, after BHO Sr had left Hawai`i.

From what I have read all were under the age of seven at the time, perhaps one was born during that time and the part about Mr. and Mrs. Barack Obama was pasted over the Lefforge families announcement.
No, in Hawaiian usage, the Certificate is the original "long form" version of the Birth Certificate. The Certification of Live Birth is an electronic abstract or "short form", containing only part of the information on the original "long form> although in some places even the abstracts were once hand generated from birth "Logs", rather than being copies of the original BC. The first BC of mine that I got was clearly printed from a Microfilm or microfiche copy of the original. So was a copy of our marriage certificate obtained in the mid 1980s.
Before all the controversy over BHO's BC erupted, I had read that many states were going "paperless", and would store computer images of the original documents, and print those, eliminating the need for the absract. Doing that requires a lot more storage space, but that is getting very very inexpensive. The abstract forms were "invented" to save time, and money. The minimal data they contain, different from state to state, was stored as "characters" not images, and thus took up very little storage space. By not having to retrieve the physical document, much money could be saved. Proably to spend on AFDC or similar programs.

It is interesting that some are certain that the family couldn’t have put in a birth announcement. Well, right now, you can log in and place an ad for your own child’s birth announcement in the Chicago Tribune classified section. So maybe in Hawaii the Dept. of health provides some data, but other papers let parents pay for an announcement ad—it is in the classifieds. Perhaps Obama’s parents actually put in ad—it in no way says where he was born.
Seems to me that the birth ad being printed in paper is similar to marriage announcement. It is just announcing that the Obamas on such & such street, had a baby. The birth date is included as well. Ad/announcement doesn’t
say anything about where baby was born. Theoretically, nowadays, a parent adopting a foreign baby from Poland our Peru could go pick up their baby and return to Chicago place a birth announcement in Chicago Trib. Many parents would want to do that to let the world know they have a baby. They were not faking it—just announcing it; besides, when you publish birth announcement in papers used to get freebies from merchants, etc. So just made sense to do it

Eleanor Norkyke’s story is a sick joke IMO. Aside from the fact that we cannot find a birth announcement for the twins, she’s an author who writes on anthropology, she’s connected to the East-West Centre in Hawaii and she relies (probably) upon the erstwhile Alvin Onaka for her research materials, over which he has had great authority for the past 40 years!
And...in 2002 there’s no way that Madelyn would have been on a cruise. She suffered from severe osteoporosis, and could not walk without a walking aid.
