Boeing 787 may not fly this year
Seattle Times ^ | 07/22/09 | Dominic Gates

Posted on 07/22/2009 1:10:26 PM PDT by AngelesCrestHighway

The structural flaw that delayed the first flight of the 787 Dreamliner is more complex than originally described by the company, and the plane's inaugural takeoff is likely at least four to six months away, say two engineers with knowledge of Boeing's problem.

"It's got to take at least three to four months just to get something installed on an airplane," said a structures engineer who has been briefed on the issue. "It's definitely a costly fix to go and do this work."

Airbus seeks $5 billion in subsidies, while Boeing is getting at least $6 billion in subsidies for the 787:

http://www.buffalo.edu/ubreporter/archives/vol35/vol35n40/articles/Boeing.html

Scroll down to page 9 in the below pdf and look at table 2:
http://igeographer.lib.indstate.edu/pritchard.pdf

You’ll see that Boeing is getting $13.4 Billion in launch funding for the 787 of which as least 46% is actionable/prohibited under the WTO rules.

I’m not a troll there skippy, because for one I’ve been here longer than you, and second unlike you I’m not scared to show where I’m from, or give information about myself on my profile page.

You claim that my points are invalid while you have nothing to support your claims other than the use of your Boeing / AFL-CIO issued talking points, and prop up a letter from the America hating communist Senator patty “osama mama” murray who gets tens of thousands of dollars in contributions from Boeing.

Senator murray BTW praised osama bin laden by saying the following: “He’s been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructures, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities and the people are extremely grateful. We haven’t done that.”

I hate to be the grammar police...but one might hope that a person hired to write for a living would know the difference in meaning between “may” and “might”.

Oh, wait, he’s a newspaper writer. Never mind.

Yeah right Mole!!
“Airbus claims the presentation, as well as its competitive intelligence gathering methods, fully comply with all laws. Though when approached about how the information was gathered, Airbus declined to address it specifically, suggesting that a lot of data labelled BOEING PROPRIETARY is freely available online. Airbus added that not all documents labelled BOEING PROPRIETARY are in fact proprietary. A spokesman emphasized that Airbus closely watches the market to draw its own conclusions, as do its competitors.

A search engine query for “Boeing Proprietary PPT” did not yield the slides in question.”

Still the little coward sniping anonymously I see. http://competitiveintelligence.ning.com/forum/topics/airbus-presentation-on-boeing Read the last two comments in the above link. And one must wonder how the obviously in the tank for Boeing flightglobal.com happened upon internal Airbus documents? It's funnier still that the slides that flightglobal "aquired" are no longer available: http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/flightblogger/Airbus_787_Lessons_learnt.pdf But sadly YOU still havn't proven squat especially in light of this: http://www.seattleweekly.com/2003-12-03/news/a-new-ethical-era-for-the-sleazy-b/ http://www.seattleweekly.com/2004-12-01/news/racket-science/ http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2002146025_boeinglockheed09.html Boeing stole proprietary information from Lockheed Martin, but you're OK with that because it's just Boeing.

So where are the patents for the technology and techniques that Airbus “lifted” from Boeing?

“YOU made the claims, it is up to YOU to back them up!”

NO it is you who has to do the explaining here Little guy, the industrial spying and government handouts.

“The U.S. complaint against the EC primarily centers on R&D money provided to Airbus that has no real counterpart in the U.S. This so far has amounted to a claimed $15 billion of what the U.S. rightly says is market-distorting launch aid made available to Airbus by four EU member governments (including Spain).”

Crap like this is all over in your little purple skyed world like a rash.

while y’all argue..latest news is that things are much worse than first thought

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/boeingaerospace/2009565319_boeing30.html

Looks like the “7 late 7” may not fly for a while..not to mention missed weight / payload goals..

But with that level of cost overrun, Campbell said, “Boeing is highly likely to lose large sums of money on the first 400 to 600 aircraft.”

This thing will be 3 years late at best...thats to bad

"Don’t buy (fly) the union label"

the 787 trouble sounds more like a engineering problem than a production problem.

‘Splain this thing to me, Lucy.

If these A/C are all computer CAD/CAM designed, and math is math is math, and strengths of aluminum, titanium, composites, etc. are all well known, then where is this problem coming from?
